All For The Money

“And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart,
she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines,
saying, come up this once, for he hath shewed me all his heart.
Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her,
and brought money in their hand.  Judges 16:18.

Money is a powerful tool that can and will destroy the very souls of many people. The lesson from this blog is an illustration of the power that money has. When one considers how money came to be it is demonic and then it must be a creation of our adversary.

In the election campaign of 2016 we are finding out from the e-mails of the Clintons’ that these people and their entire circle would do such treasonous acts that it is hard to accept. We are finding out that these liars would probably do anything for power, wealth and money.

During the three short years that Jesus Christ walked among the Jews he was very observant what was happening in religious circles as well as the secular world. The Temple Mount was a place where money was ruling. The Son of God was a man of action it was for this reason that John 2:14-16, tells what he did.

And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables;
And sold unto them that sold doves, take these things hence;
make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise.”

All throughout the three years of the ministry many played a part. The last of the three temptations was concerning wealth and thus money. Matthew 4:9-10, gives the response of God.

”And saith unto him, all these things will I give thee, of thou wilt fall down and worship me.
Then saith Jesus unto him, get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.”

In our history money has taken various forms. First there was some form of bartering such as sheep, goats, cattle, etc. Second, the minting of gold and silver which was used as a value system. Third since carrying gold and silver was burdensome then paper was issued by merchants and governments. Fourth, we have now gone into digital forms of liquidity. The point I am making is money and wealth does take various forms but it still falls into what we call money.

The reason this subject is raised in this lesson is the downfall of Samson was motivated by money.

All you have to do is observe how people react when money is involved. Whatever the reason people love to be in debt to someone else for money is unknown. There are some businesses that will not accept cash, a check or money order. It must be a credit card that places the holder deeper into debt.

Recently there was an article that indicated to the best of the historians there have been 22 empires from what these people know studying the past. The United States is number 23. All of these fell. The collapse among some was violent while others went more silently. Those who make a study have asserted all fell due to the huge cast of maintenance and keeping the government in running order. Once again the flow of money is the keep reason.

When Solomon died, his kingdom went to his son Re-ho-bo’am. There was a meeting of the tribes at Shechem where a heated meeting ensued. Ten tribes told the new king stop taxing us because the yoke is too heavy.  Kings 12:4, gives the complaint.

“Thy father made our yoke grievous: now therefore
make thou the grievous service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve thee.”

Read this chapter because it will tell you what took place. Here again it was money.

As usual, it was money which the government was demanding. In our time, if Hillary Clinton is elected money will be much in demand. It will be more, more and more. The Democrats lead the charge. For money – the Republicans are in the mix also.

The Bible has a way of summing up thoughts then putting the comment in a short form without losing the true meaning. This is no better stated than in Timothy 6:10.

“For the love of money is the root of all evil: which
while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”

The driving force in the lives of people often is to have an accumulation of money over and above their needs in America this is to have more things so that these can be stored in a strange room several miles from their home which also is crammed full of stuff which is not used. money is a priority that can never be over looked.

When one reads of the fall of these past empires often there comes a day of recording. The debts cannot be paid.

The Scripture again and again instructs us to be very careful who we come in contact. One can easily see this written about in Proverbs. One such verse is in Proverbs 4:261 25.

“Let thine eyes look right on1 and let thine eyelids
look straight before thee. Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.”

Actually these sayings are how to live a successful life but more than this to have a good business.

Solomon obviously did not adhere to such remarks for this was a tremendous fault of lies.

Look and see these four:

• Enjoyed loose women,
• Fornication was prevalent,
• Away from God’s people, and
• Trampled God’s law, left his own people.

Although it does not say so in Judges but seemingly Delilah was a whore or a harlot or prostitute. Samson was where he should not have been.

Solomon told Delilah that he was strong because he followed God’s law of a Nazarite. Never cut his hair. Read carefully Judges 16:18-19.

“And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the Lords of the Philistines, saying, come up this once, for he hath shewed me all his heart. Then the Lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money In their hand.
And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him.”

Evil always destroys God’s way for living. God’s law and Satan’s law can never co-exist at the same. This is the reason socialism always seeks to destroy any command of God.

The Communist and Muslims hate with a vengeance – any remark of Jesus or the Holy Scripture. Samson learned the hard way. He lived with evil. This actually brought him to his final destruction – death.

In the process, evil always seeks to punish those who proclaim God’s law. Samson again was taught this because his eyes were put out. The lesson was harsh for this man of God.

As a people we should learn the lesson that the Lord’s way will finally prevail.

You can read that a return of God’s way will happen. Judges 16:22, informs us of this.

“Howbeit the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaven.”

There was a return of his powerful body muscles. It was revenge time for Samson.

As always, Satan loves to parade his supposed conquering of God. In the time of Samson was no different. Judges 16:24,25, sets this out in detail.

“And when the people saw him, they praised their god: for they said, our god hath delivered into our hands our enemy, and the destroyer of our country, which slew many of us.
And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make us sport. And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made them sport: and they set him between the pillars.”

In our time there is no different when the infidel Satan-worshipers and Bible deniers flaunt their ways before the world in a contemptuous way. Laughing! Ridiculing! Destroying! It is as if God is on the scuffling. You probably have noticed how this attitude has shown a dramatic increase over the internet.

Delilah sold out Solomon for money after Salomon was captured Delilah was given money. Read carefully Judges l6:18.

“And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, come up this once, for he hath shewed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her and brought money in their hand.”

She was understood by the Philistine rulers. It was money that set the affair moving.

It goes without saying that Solomon received a just reward for sleeping with a whore. Then justice entered the scene because Samson’s refusal to obey God’s command was a part of the judgment. For some ridiculous reason we think we are above the justice of God, but any Bible reader knows this will not happen. Justice is meted out.

It is very common for people want God to intervene when the Devil seeks to destroy up. We then turn to God. Help! Help! In this case it was no different. The prayer is set forth in Judges 1.6:28.

“And Solomon called unto the Lord, and said, 0 Lord
God, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.”

God granted his prayer.

It was then Samson used the God given power to push two pillars and bring the building down as told in Judges 16:30.

“And Solomon said, let me die with the Philistines.
And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life.”

What a sad ending for one of the chosen of God. Death was justice among the heathens. It is hard to have any feelings for Samson.

As we read and mull over these stories found in Judges such as the sordid event of Samson what should be sought is how can I live a more Godly life. The answer is yes you can. These are matters you can and should answer.

Money is not to be accepted for evil acts,
• Stay away from evil people,
• Stay away from evil places,
• Seek the destruction of evil, and
• Call out to God for help against evil.

In our age the rules set forth can apply to our living arrangements.

“Who taught the sun where to stand in the morning?
Who told the ocean you can only come this far?
Who showed the moon where to hide ’til evening?
Whose words alone can catch a falling star?

Well I know my Redeemer lives.
I know my Redeemer lives
All of creation testify.
This life within me cries.

I know my Redeemer lives.
The very same God that spins things in orbit.
He runs to the weary, the worn and the weak
And the same gentle hands that hold me when I’m broken

Now I know my Redeemer lives.
I know my Redeemer lives.
Let all creation testify.

Let this life within me cry.
I know my Redeemer,
He lives To take away my shame
And He lives forever, I’ll proclaim.
That the payment for my sin was the precious life He gave.
But now He’s alive and There’s an empty grave.

Now I know my Redeemer lives.
I know my Redeemer lives.
Let all creation testify.
Let this life within me cry.
I know my Redeemer, He lives.”
