Bible Is The Standard

“Hear ye this, O priests; and hearken,
ye house of Israel; and give ye ear,
O house of king; for judgment is toward
you, because ye have been a snare on
Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor.”    Hosea 5:1.    ERIC BONHOEFFER

In 1933, there arose a group of Christian leaders who were in opposition to the doctrine that Adolph Hitler was proclaiming. It had several names in the beginning but eventually it was known as the Confessing Church. One of the leaders and spokesmen for the group was Eric Bonhoeffer. Under orders from Himmler this man was hung days before Germany surrendered in April 1945.

The problems arose when the church as a body alleged two serious situations that become enmeshed in the church.

First, the government (National Socialist) tried to interfere in the church itself. In other words the government started telling the church what it should and could not do.

Second, the ministers and church leaders were succumbing to the pressures of the culture. This meant the body of Christ was to be scared into how the world thought it should act.

There were leaders who said no to these two and concept that these men in the “Confessing Church” did was say the truth must be clearly announced. Truth must be told. There is no room for error.

Several groups should take a lesson from this page in history.

The groups are: Presbyterians, Methodist, Disciples of Christ, Episcopalians and others who have perverted the truth. The latest is the homosexual demands. This is ripping the church into terrible conflicts.

The homosexual and lesbians have some queer rationales to say the least.

The TV hucksters do not often, if ever – use the word “sin”. The excuse is that it would offend people and thus keep money from being dropped into the collection plate. Based upon my observations, reading and listening the church is ripe for a “Confession Church”.

A few days ago a missionary told me he felt moved to do mission work in foreign countries since these people will need to come to the United States as missionaries soon. Laugh if you want. At least consider what he said.

What we have today are take-offs on Norman Vincent Peale, Tony Robbins and Robert Schuller. Their remarks last for a short time. These people have no theology nor do they have anyone who carries their work forward. It is about creating wealth. Forget them.

The prophet condemns these groups. They were priests and the kings. Hosea 5:1 tells us:

“Hear ye this, O priests; and give ye ear, O house of the king; for
judgment is toward you, because ye have been a snare on Mizpah,
and a net spread upon Tabor.”

As we read this today it is a condemnation of us also.

Mispah was a heap of stones raised by Judah to show the covenant it had with God. We should always understand that our relationship with God is a covenant. This does not break with the eternal security that some have supposedly with God. Our relationship can be broken. It seems more often it is broken than kept by we humans. God never breaks His word.

Two names are used to show they broke their agreement. Israel was the county we refer to as the ten tribes. Ephraim was one of the larger tribes. It became hopeless according to Hosea 5:3

“I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me; for now, O Ephraim,
thou committest whoredom, and Israel is defiled.”

There was a spirit of rebellion among Israel and the ten tribes. Actually these people had an attitude of a whore. Anything was permissible. These evil people did not know God. Their mind set was inexcusable. Reason and worship had no place in their culture.

These were the words written in Hosea 5:4.

“They will not frame their doings to turn unto their God; for the spirit
of whoredoms is in the midst of them, and they have not known the Lord.”

On April 5, 2015, I attended a church service which had about 1500 in the 9:30 service. There had been one earlier at 8:00 and then one at 11:00. Each of these was packed with at least 1500 attending. That means 4500 hundred people were present. I suspect there were nearly 5000. It is the time for the amateur Christians to come and act holy. Two times each year they come and see the performance. You know what I mean –

• Beautiful music
• Friendly preacher
• Put in a ten dollar bill
• Gorgeous flowers
• New dresses
• Service that last sixty minutes
• Cross with flowers

The Lord will see all of this parade which He must think is a sham.

There is a basic problem that sin always brings into play. It is never just the sinner that has to pay the price. Others are called into the affair. Here are some examples which have been observed before.

• Drunk collides into another car killing the driver.
• Stealing from others cause others to be denied.
• Dopers put on welfare so that government pays them.
• Lying about a family that hatred is aroused.
• Dishonest time sheets a meaning to steal time.

It is found in Hosea 5:5 that Judah suffered because the sin of Israel.

“And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face; therefore shall Israel
and Ephraim fall in their iniquity; Judah also shall fall with them”.

The Lord told these Israelites to stop these abominable acts. These people paid little or no attention to the prophets and the contents of God’s Word. At this time the homosexuals are saying it is all right. To have a marriage with the same sex is a lie.

There has been a study put out in the British Journal of Education entitled “Society in Behavioral Science”. This article analyzed 512 same sex couples. Each couple had one or more children under the age of 18 living with the couple. The article was by D. Paul Sullins. He was a professor at the Catholic University in Washington, D. C.

The finding should give us apprehension about their sin. The child of this union suffers emotional and behavioral problems. These children were four times as likely to suffer problems such as depression, anxiety, defiance or inattention.

The problem is brought about by homosexuality.

Hosea 5:7 states that evil would befall the children. Not only would the crops be destroyed but also the offspring:

“They have dealt treacherously against the Lord: for they have begotten
strange children: now shall a month devour them with their portions.”

In the Old Testament the trumpet gave a sound that an event was about to happen. In Hosea 5:8 and 9 tell of this event:

“Blow ye the coronet in Gibeah, and the trumpet in Ramah: cry aloud at
Bethaven, after thee, O Benjamin.”
“Ephraim shall be desolate in the day of rebuke: among the tribes of Israel
have I made known that which shall surely be.”

It is the sign of ignorance to even consider that sin does not have destruction. When we react like this then judgments will be upon us. We have done all of this with a willing heart. It seems that to pronounce such a thought of judgment is not for us. Hosea 5:11 says it is:

“Ephraim is oppressed and broken in judgment, because he willingly walked
after the commandment.”

As always God will have a spokesman who always predicts that the end is not far off. All sin is instant gratification. The experience does not last very long. Disaster soon arises. The man who occupies the White House has put a plague upon this nation. Our liberties have been eroded under this muslim believer. His value system is not the same as Christians have.

Whenever any doctrine or scheme is set out then take those principles and measure them by the Bible. It was Hosea 5:12 that states:

“Therefore will I be unto Ephraim as a moth, and to the house of Judah as

The comments of men cannot heal sin injuries. Men do not have a cleansing for sin when going to pagan men. Both the Northern and Southern Kingdom sought protection from outside sources. It did not work then and it will fail now. One should read Hosea 5: 13,14.

“When Ephriam saw his sickness, and Judah saw his wound, then went to
Ephraim to the Assyrian, and sent to king Jareb; yet could he not heal you,
Not cure you of your wound.”
“For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of
Judah; I even I, will tear and go away; I will take away, and none shall rescue

The rescue will not happen. There must be a cleansing. The filth of our people is sickening. Do not ever depend upon other governments.

Remember what the prophet tells us that we must look for. Hosea 5:15 brings the Good News.

“I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence,
and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.”

We of the Restoration Movement know Christ is the only answer.

“There’s a great day coming, A great day coming,
There’s a great day coming by and by,
When the saints and the sinners shall be parted right and left,
Are you ready for that day to come?
“There’s a sad day coming, A sad day coming,
There’s a sad day coming by and by,
When the sinner shall hear his doom,
“Depart, I know ye not!”
Are you ready for that day to come?”
