Leaders Are Disappointing

“When I would have healed Israel, then
the iniquity of Ephraim was discovered,
and the wickedness of Samaria for they
commit falsehood; and the thief cometh in,
and the troop of robbers spoileth without.”      Hosea 7:1.

There is no doubt that those who are chosen to lead us when looked at are a disappointment. There is no better illustration of this than in the political environment.

What we are told during the campaign season is one thing then when these people get into office their actions are different than the words the words spoken. The reason is that mankind is basically untruthful.

As people of the Word we must teach the young to tell the truth. Truth is not a part of our inherent core. From the time of Eve and Adam in the Garden of Eden truth has not been the top priority of humans. In all spheres of our lives truth is different to be seen as well as told by people.

We see this played out in buying selling and trading of goods. In the business world there is a phrase that is used by some one who buys a piece of land or invest in personal property.

The words are, “Did you do due diligence to see if the seller is telling the truth?”   This can take many forms but it is basic to know what is bought. This should keep us from being a fool and ignorant.

The basic idea is to question all that takes place before we act upon the remarks, promises and actions of others. In short what we are doing is trying to determine if the other side is telling the truth. There are rules we must use to see if the truth has been set out. It seems that the responsibility is on us. Yes expect there will be lies told but we are accountable.

People take the attitude either it will work out or it will not happen to me. Surprises come to all of us. There are circumstances we simply are unable to control. This is true even though we think that we know our surroundings.

When I was a young lawyer there was a time when defending criminals was exciting, fun and enjoyable. On one occasion in Lubbock, Texas in the Federal Court I was defending a “pimp” who had a bevy of women who he took on a circuit. The F.B.I. had arrested him for transporting women across state lines for sexual purposes. During the trial in front of the jury he was going to sleep at the counsel table. I punched him and said, “Quit that.” His reply was simple. “I’ll explain this to you at the recess.”

At the recess he told me that a couple nights before the F.B.I. told him, “Do nothing to defend yourself. We will dismiss all the other charges against you.”  Of course, he was found guilty. All of this was illegal, wrong and contrary to law. The F.B.I. committed a crime.

From that time forward I have never trusted the F.B.I. This was a set of facts that took place I did not control.

It was Hosea 7:1 that states people are false.

“When I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim was
discovered, and the wickedness of Samaria of they commit falsehood;
and the thief cometh in, and the troop of robbers spoileth without.”

What was given was a proper name which told where sin was prevalent. Ephraim was a tribe of Israel. It was numerous in people. Now Samaria was a region but also it was the capitol of the Northern Kingdom. The king ruled from Samaria. The city of Samaria was corrupt.

Christianity teaches until death there is always an opportunity to confess Christ, repent of sin and be buried in the waters immersion. This is what Jesus said in Matthew 28:19-20.

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost:”
“Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and,
lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

At no time did Christ in the New Testament ever say at such and such time a person can not accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

When the first Gospel sermon was preached by Peter in Jerusalem in A.D. 33 no age limit was placed upon the believers. The following is taken from Acts 2:37-38.

“Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto
Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?”
“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the
name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and he shall receive the gift
of the Holy Ghost.”

The same approach was made by the Lord to the people of Samaria when it was said
“…when I would have healed Israel…”

We do not know all of this wickedness but some we know:

• Idolatry – idols
• Adultery
• Alcohol
• Reliance on heathen nations
• Fornication

Scripture could be written out of each of these and then a discussion could be explained.

There are crimes that plague the nations. Here are some sins which are woven into the pattern of our culture.

• Adultery
• Acceptance of idols
• Worship evil gods
• Homosexualism
• Lack of foreign missions

When sin becomes a part of the woof and warp of the fabric of our future culture then the leadership cannot lead. This is what happened then – and – today also.

The book of Hosea 7:5-6 tells this is a different way but it should illustrate the confusion then and now. Seldom do we hear a ruler call upon Jehovah God. Hosea 7:7 tells us this standpoint.

“They are all hot as an oven, and have devoured their judges; all their
kings are fallen: there is none among them that calleth unto me.”

The fact is that people’s desires pull leadership with ? Leaders follow from the back and not from the front.

We have had a liar at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue:

Does he worship God each week?
• Does he lie?
• Does he protect the U. S. Constitution?
• Is he a divider of the people?
• Does he hate white people?
• Does he surround himself with liars?

It was Benjamin Franklin

who wrote in 1754 in a pamphlet, “Information to Those Who Would Remove to America.”

“Atheism is unknown there; Infidelity rare and secret; so that persons may live to
a great age in that country without having their piety shocked by meeting with
either an Atheist or an Infidel. And the Divine Being seems…pleased to favor
the whole country.”   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2MiYkCCR5s

When heathen spew out its hatred of Christians and printed articles scoff at we Christians then trouble will come. Yet these godless people cannot offer any thing better so I personally ridicule them for such trash talk.

What one sees is the downfall of a great exceptional nation.

There are pockets of evil:

San Francisco – Home of homosexuals
• Dallas – Home of many muslims
• Detroit – Theft – bankruptcy
• Chicago – Schools in disarray
• Washington, D. C. – Corruption
• New York – Officials on the take

Ephraim did not know what was happening. People were coming to Israel who had not business being there. This is what Hosea 7:9 states.

“Strangers have devoured strength, and he knoweth it not: yea gray hairs
are here and there upon him, yet he knoweth not”

Many of our national forefathers knew God. One should read what Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, and Franklin said about God. To deny the Lord now is nothing but trash talk.

The nation of Israel was said to be “silly”. What was shown was that these people sought help from Assyria then to their ancient enemy Egypt. Hosea 7:11 states:

“Ephraim also is like a silly dove without heart: they call to Egypt, they go
to Assyria.”

All of this was going to be a disaster for Israel. Never should any nation or person depend upon the godless for extended help.

What one should do is look and read the history of WWII. Some people thought the Soviet Union would be our friend however this turned about to be our downfall. We should have allowed Adolph Hitler to tear their ability to make war a disaster. After the war look what our friendship brought us. The Cold War. The Korean War. Viet Nam War. The loss of China. If we had followed the Bible then thousands of lives would have been saved.

History tells us what the future will be. When we do not read what God states then it will happen. See Hosea 7:13-14.

“Woe unto them! For they have fled from me: destruction unto them! Because
they have transgressed against me: though I have redeemed them, yet they have
spoken lies against me.”
“And they have not cried unto me with their heart, when they howled upon their
beds: they assemble themselves for corn and wine, and they rebel against me.”

Again and again calls for repentance come but to expect this is almost impossible. The road to destruction has now been set. The strength of sinners only is a delusion. Hosea 7:15 tells us:

“Though I have bound and strengthened their arms yet do they imagine
mischief against me.”

Let me give an answer how precarious we are now. It has been thought that the two oceans – Atlantic and Pacific – were our protective borders. No more!

It was thought that aircraft carriers would be our protective arm. No more. One atomic bomb would sink it and the supply ships attending the carrier force.

These atheists who run this nation should read Hosea 7:15-16.

“Though I have bound and strengthened their arms, yet do they imagine
mischief against me.”
“They return, but not to the most High: they are like a deceitful bow: their
princes shall fall by the sword for the rage of their tongue: this shall be their
derision in the land of Egypt.”

As a Christian we should do our due diligence. Beware how we attack a problem.

Remember to keep the faith.

“Oh, now I see the crimson wave,
The fountain deep and wide;
Jesus, my Lord, mighty to save,
Leaders Are Disappointing
Points to His wounded side.”
Amazing grace! ‘tis heav’n below,
To feel the blood applied;
And Jesus, only Jesus know,
My Jesus crucified.”
