Baal + Ashtaroth: Wall Street

Living in Filth

“And they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, which
brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed
other gods, of the gods of the people that were round
about them, and provoked the Lord to anger.”   Judges 2:12.

When we observe the events that are currently happening; there can come over us a certain melancholy that can easily descend into a depression of our spirit. Seeing the situations which are around us can be upsetting. In every sphere of life, the same mental state can bring despondency.  This can be very hurtful.

What we do is to compare what was to what is now. The United States was once a powerful nation that has now fallen into a weak, whining country of socialist groups.  Politically, there is a huge division among our citizens that now will be a disaster for years to come. Emotionally, there is tremendous sickness that people cannot understand.

The young cannot distinguish between evil and righteousness.

There is a right and wrong way to act. Christianity has become a confused mess; there are few answers given from the pulpit. In reality what we have is a mess that will never be straightened out in this generation. The basic observation is that when this happens to a culture then upheaval and riots will be a part of the life of the average person.

Confusion will be a pattern for living and seemingly no one will have the answers.

As has been written before this has happened again and again it would seem that the answers would be evident and truthfully the solutions are present. Men will not put the answers into practice. Thus chaos will run.

Politics does not give us an answer. One should read Judges 9:14-15.

“Then said all the trees unto the bramble, come thou,
and reign over us.
And the bramble said unto the trees, If in truth ye
anoint me King over you, then come and put your trust
in my shadow: and if not, let fire come out of the
bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon.”

For the most part the higher one climbs the Political ladder – the more sordid the leaders are.

The average person does not intend to reform then they seemingly do not care now. Hell has been described as bottomless in Revelations 9:1-2.

And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from
heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key
of the bottomless pit.
And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a
smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace;
and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of
the smoke of the pit.”

These two passages are right to the point that hell is never full because it will accommodate the vast majority of people. Tell it like it is most people already have this ticket in hand to this final destination.

The issue is always present if we reside in this world of filth how then shall we live? One needs never ponder in this question. The answer has already been set forth by the prophets.  It was Jesus Christ who fine-tuned this principle of living. When the prophets spoke and so also Jesus speaking the plural was never used when telling people what was about to happen. It was “the”. This was never deleted. This solution was singular. John 6:51 says this:

“I am the living bread which came down from heaven:
if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and
the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give
for the life of the world.”

Those who deny this truth are in rebellion.

It happened very quickly in the Jewish culture the worship of others forms of religion. There were two forms of paganism they took on the national life. First there was Baal or sometimes called Baalism. Israel was attracted to this heathen worship. Here are some of its practices:

• Sacred prostitution
• Male prostitution
• Animal sacrifice
• Licentious demons
• Probably homosexuality.

The other religion mentioned in our text is Ashtaroth. This dwelt with a female goddess.

Specialized in sex
• Orgies
• A naked woman was the symbol with a lily in one hand
• Emphasis on war

These are just some of the listings of these two wicked evil religions that the Hebrews often embraced.

Even though God had saved these people this is who they took up with. One can read this in Judges 2:11-13.

“And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord,
and served Ba’al-im:
And they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, which
brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other
Gods, of the Gods of the people that were round about
them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked
the Lord to anger.
And they forsook the Lord, and served Ba’al and Ash’ta-roth.”

You must see the reenactment in our ways of life today. You must understand this all has happened before.

The personality of God said enough of this pagan worship in sons of Jacob. When the hard become angry then judgment must come. It always happens and it seems people are so surprised when payment for sin is demanded by almighty God. Then confusion abounds in the minds of the people.

This was a part of the penalty Jehovah that victory would no longer be allowed Judges 2:14-15, is very clear of the correction process.

“And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel, and
He delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled
Them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies
round about so that they could not any longer stand
before their enemies.
Whithersoever, they went out, the hand of the Lord was
against them foe evil, as the Lord had said, and as the
Lord had sworn unto them: and they were greatly

Is there a replay in this situation today in the United States?  This nation has not won an armed conflict for decades. Here is a list of our last wars:

• Viet Nam
• Iraqi
• Lebanon
• Syria
• Bay of Pigs
• Afghanistan
• War Against Tyrants
• Crime in Detroit and Chicago

In the strongest possible terms, we are to tell others what the collateral damage which has happened.

At the time of our living God has bestowed upon us a way of escape. He did this with the children of Abraham when in Canaan and this sin was so prevalent.

From the time of the death of Joshua until David, the King, God would send men of God who were called judges, to save the complete destruction of these people. The responsibility was at least two fold. First they aided in settling civil disturbances in matter of property rights. Then a second responsibility was to demand the ruler of God thru Moses be followed. Sometime these people commanded the military or were involved in throwing off the chains of tyranny.

In Judges 2:16-19, this is told to us:

“Nevertheless the Lord raised up judges, which
delivered them out of the hand of those that
spoiled them.
And yet they would not hearken unto their judges,
but they went whoring after other gods, and
bowed themselves unto them: they turned quickly
out of the way which their fathers walked in,
obeying the commandments of the Lord; but they
did not so.
And when the Lord raised them up judges, then the
Lord was with the judge, and delivered them out of
the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge:
for it repented the Lord because of their groanings
by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed
And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that
they returned, and corrupted themselves more than
their fathers, in following other gods to serve them,
and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from
their own doings, nor from their stubborn way.”

Men and women who come from varied backgrounds begin to tell people you have a serious problem that needs to seek a remedy. It was preacher Billy Graham, who roared out of nowhere in the 1950’s through 1980 that brought the message of Jesus Christ first to the United States – then to the world.

It was Ron Paul who said economically and politically that told a message of redemption. It was and is Gary North which clearly states the Bible could be used as a guide in all phases of our lives. It was/is law. Rockwell, who prints out a series of articles six days a week to inform us what the government is lying to us at this time.

Yes, there are still men speaking in certain restricted areas. It would be wise for each of us to read these to accept or reject their thoughts.

God does allow time for us to repent. Most of the time judgment does not happen at the snap of a finger. It just takes place slowly. Do not let the slowness of God to act cause a belief that judgment will not happen. It is God’s timing that confuses us mentally.

What had happened was God wanted repentance because the covenant had been broken so the price was to be paid. The writer of Judges tells us that constant struggle was brought about because Israel turned away from God. Judges 2:20, is implicit in this fact.

“And the anger of the lord was hot against Israel; and he
said, because that this people hath transgresses my
covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not
hearkened unto my voice.”

The condemnation by the Lord God that from hat time forward there would be no peace. War then peace, then war then peace would be the patterns of this way of life. So tell me about the history of Israel today. Is it war and peace? The events are the same in our lifetime.

Judges 2:22-23 is informative to us today.

“That through them I may prove Israel, whether they
will keep the way of the Lord to walk therein, as their
fathers did keep it, or not.
Therefore the Lord left those nations, without driving
them out hastily; neither delivered he them into the
hand of Joshua.”

This holds for us a warning and a prophecy. Our country is going to be in some armed conflict from this time forward. Our sons and daughters will be plagued with armed struggles. It gives me no pleasure to write this last comment.

Do not become disheartened about this. Both candidates have promised the same. The Clintons’ hands drip with blood and corruption. Trump had said openly he will destroy that evil ISIS. Neither one has said turn to the ways of God.

The only solution is the remnant of believers. Remember we are living in a linear time. There was a beginning and there will be an end. Praise God for this.  Jesus is the only way.

“’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
And to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
And to know, “Thus says the Lord!”

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!

O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
And in simple faith to plunge me
’Neath the healing, cleansing flood!

Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace.

I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.”
