Need For Discipline

“And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned,
That he that hath done this deed might be taken away
from among you.”     I Corinthians 5:2.

The age we are living does not like discipline. In fact to correct someone for a wrong is coming to the time when such is archaic. This fault that in the future will come back to haunt the people of the United States and I suspect the rest of the world.

Certain words in the English language have taken on a meaning that in the past were never used in such a content. One word which has changed is “Kind”.   In the past this meant to be considerate and not abusive. Another word is “Peace”.  We have used this to mean do not stand up against evil or violence. The concept of peace should be a time when there is no war and eruption of force.

What this has done is produce a notice which refuses to discipline evil, corrupt, sinful people. In the newspaper there was the report of the murderer who killed several people in the movie theatre in Colorado. He was given life. He deserved death for his acts of terror. He was sane. He forfeited the right to live in society.

Christianity never states that a person should not pay for their wrongs such as murder, fornication, rape and thievery.

A nation that will not stand up for punishment will no longer be able to tell others who God is. The Almighty Father teaches punishment and judgment. Revelations 22:12 teaches the future judgment.

“And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every
man according as his work shall be.”

In the section of the Old Testament commonly called the Torah judgment is approved upon certain sinful acts. One example is Leviticus 18:22 where homosexual acts is set out:

“Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.”

Actually, there are supposedly over 600 rules set out in the Old Testament.

Condemnation and punishment are not new to the human race. All civilizations embrace some form of judgment in a physical act.

Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, birthed the church in Corinth as told in Acts 18:1,3,4.

“After these things, Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth:”
“And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought:
for by their occupation they were tentmakers.”
“And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded the Jews
and the Greeks.”

After he left this city he heard sin had been and was practiced within the body at Corinth.
I Corinthians 5:1 informs what was happening:

“It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such
fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one
should have his father’s wife.”

Paul told the church that the world does not act like this. Arrogant to the point of all most unbelief. This very sin was condemned by Moses in Deuteronomy 22:30.

“A man shall not take his father’s wife, nor discover his father’s skirt.”

One would wonder what Paul would pen not to one church but all the churches in the United States. I have known about fornication of several ministers who were deeply involved in fornication. It is not just church leadership that stumbles into sin but the rank and file of the membership. Now consider this as proof of the administration of the body of Christ.

This is not accurate but a very close comparison of people and their marriage and subsequent separation or divorce. Yes, some marriages end because of death of one of the partners. The fact is that about 48% or 50% of unions end in divorce. The church has many divorced people in it. Some have positions of leadership and others are members.

At no time have I personally known a single person who has been disciplined for the sin of fornication and/or adultery. As the saying goes “it ain’t going to happen.”

When a person sees and observes the church of today if it were not so serious would be laughable. Sexual sins are rampant in the body of Christ. In fact, the modern church is similar to the two political parties – Democrats and Republican. Both are gutless. Both are without solid morals. Both are fearful of the truth. Both do not want to destroy their money base. Why do people like Donald Trump?  He tells the truth.

The Apostles said that their arrogance was there. In fact no member had mourned about this sin of fornication and or adultery. I Corinthians 5:2 so states:

“And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done
this deed might be taken away from among you.”

Breaking the rule like this brings division disruption, and distraction to Christ body. Jesus said in Mark 3:24,25 told us the same:

“And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.”
“And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.”

There must be a purging of this cancerous evil from the church. That person should be given the opportunity to repent. Then if that fails then action must be taken. Removal of the person. I Corinthians 5:3,4,5:

“For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as
though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed.”
“In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and
my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,”
“To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the
spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.”

This tells the world we will have tolerated this now or in the future. The church should condemn sin wherever sin is found.

You and I have three (3) district bodies. They are spoken about in the Holy Word.

  1. Physical bodies – on the average it lasts between 60-90 years.
  2. Carnal body – we are constantly thwarted by its desire to sin.
  3. Spiritual body – at death it goes to a final judgment. It lives forever.

The command of Paul acting in behalf of Jehovah tells us to get rid of the evil within the body and re? Ourselves. A small event can destroy all of the teaching of righteousness. The writer uses an analogy for us of unleavened bread. When something is new there is a freshness in it.

In Corinthians 5:7 we are told this:

“Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are
unleavened. For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us.”

Christ is new. He brought cleansing and purity to a new way of living. The old way of life is no more. This requires a discipline to be enforced.

There is a new way of looking at life. Malice and wickedness are to be replaced with sincerity and truth. Vanity is in the past. Certain class of people are evil. It is just not sexual sins that we condemn but also covetous, idolatry, railer, drinking and extortionist. Not only can we not associate with them but do not eat with these people. In short, no socialization. Harsh! Yes! Politically correct. No!

Paul said bring this to a head. I Corinthians 5:11.

“But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is
called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a
drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat”

Do not put up with this sort of act. It can only bring down the house of God. When an illness is not dealt with quickly our bodies will suffer. Healing can come about but to want to start the healing process is foolishness.

Men have been fascinated by the bodies of women. Women like to be the center of conversation and be seen for their form and beauty. The great artists of the past enjoyed painting the females. This is how the Lord caused the reproduction of the human race. Yet, as this author has often written what God creates Satan always counterfeits or destroys. The same with sex.

Our culture is enthralled with sex. Many advertisements have some leggie half naked woman pronouncing the attributes of some product such as drugs cars or insurance policy is beyond reason. The advertising pitch is made to women as well as men.

Public relations firms know what sells. Sometimes it is not the product but some big breasted, long legs of a female. Do you watch TV? Look at the newspaper? Read a magazine? Am I correct? Do not tell me your comments.

Paul had some words to say about this. In I Corinthians 5:12,13 he said this:

“For what I have to do to judge them also that are without? Do not ye
judge them that are within?”
“But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among
yourselves that wicked person.”

If sin is there  –  remove it.

If you go to Las Vegas, Nevada to see beautiful women, gamble and eat rich food then you are a loser. That city was built for losers to empty their pockets.

The church groups of America, your author has never made an in depth study. For a criticism of any others would be off the cuff. However, there is one group that can be examined. It is the Disciples of Christ. From a look at some Disciples of Christ, it appears the Bible is viewed as a product of natural evolution. The Bible is a collection of books of many progressive understanding of God. This is an attempt to say the Bible is not a disclosure of absolute truth. There is no way to decipher what truth is.

The view of this author is that the Bible is the inspired written Word of God. He reveals himself. As originally written it was without mistakes.

The Bible authors, which were about 40, were directed by the Holy Spirit. God sought to redeem man.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus, Ye soldiers of the cross;
Lift high His royal banner, It must not suffer loss;
From vict’ry unto vict’ry, His army shall He lead
Till ev’ry foe is vanquished, and Christ is Lord indeed.
Stand up, stand up for Jesus, the strife will not be long;
This day the noise of battle, The next, the victor’s song:
To him that over cometh, A crown of life shall be;
He with the King of glory, Shall reign eternally.”
