Plan To Eat

“And the angel of the Lord appeared unto the woman,
and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and
bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son.
Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine
nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing.” Judges 13:3-4.

Our culture in the Unites States has talked, discussed and defined what we should eat or not to eat to remain in good health. One need only to go to an airport and watch people.  YES!  Some people are so fat that they cannot walk twenty feet.  These fat men and women have to ride in carts or they’ll collapse.

This situation of gluttony is enormous.

There are some people so wide in the thighs that they take up two seats on the plane. The airline allows them to be pushed on to the fuselage and sit in the front of the airline. We passengers must wait for these incapacitated people to board the plane. This is a shame for this to happen.

The fast food industry has capitalized on this fact. They serve big buns split into two pieces, then all sorts of fattening food added in between. Drive by McDonald’s, Wendy’s and pizza parlors, some time around noon, to see whether people eat this sort of food. You know the answer. It is always tasty and consistent from day to day.  They enjoy the fast food – from the first bite to the last.

We are informed from the advertisers of each group their product is so nutritious that it should be eaten again and again.

What has captivated so many eating establishments are the gifts for the children as well as the multi colored playground equipment. This is a way to ensure that future generations will be eating there and then the next generation will ensure a profit for the stock holders of tomorrow.

It is not only the solids which are eaten but also the liquids which are self-served. All increasing weight but also destructive to the body itself. Diet drinks are causes of many physical conditions which we have not yet fully developed their effect upon the human body. You should read about this on the internet.

When people in our culture talk about eating correctly – most people look at them as if they were deer mesmerized by the headlights of an oncoming auto.

The result of eating and drinking these kinds of food can only do harm to the human body.

Is there any wonder we are plagued with the following?

• Diabetes,
• Heart trouble,
• Stiff joints,
• Arthritis,
• Parkinson’s disease,
• Lupus,
• High blood pressure, and
• Many other physical problems.

This is not to say that all of these are caused by food and drink but it seems some are.

It is obvious that there are many causes of these physical problems but food and drink are the primary enemy in our culture.

Your writer has said again and again that the solutions to all problems are found in the Holy Scripture. This includes social problems, crimes, economics, schooling, religious growth and ability to determine how nations survive in this environment.

When we want know a solution to our problems – we can find the answer in the Bible.

Then, we are able to keep the faith. The average person has never been taught what the Holy Scripture has for each person. The Book is an amazing piece of literature but it contains the way for each person to live. There are no exceptions to this fact.

When a solution is on the bookshelf of many homes or in the desk drawer of many then the question arises why has the Explainer not been shown to people how to meet every day problems. Eating is one such situation. This can be put before such individuals as ministers, church leaders and those who study the Bible.

Unfortunately, people look upon the Bible as a collection of myths and fables that do not have any sense in our everyday tasks and life. This is tragic – the subject that is under discussion in the blog today deals with how we are to eat, and what is to be taken into our bodies even though on the face of it this is merely a story.

When the first Europeans came to North America they did not find vast civilizations. They found that the Indians were barely scraping out an existence. From what can be read their food consisted of meat and what the women could gather where plants and water produced certain grains. There were no large amounts of food.

It was when Christianity was taught that food became abundant. It was those that followed the Bible principle of proceeding that food was increased. In Genesis 1:28, God instructed people to use the earth.

“And God blessed them, and God said unto them,
Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth,
and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of
the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every
living thing that moveth upon the earth.”

This was also told to Noah after the flood in Genesis 9:1 and 9:7.

“And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto
them, be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth.”
“And you, ye be fruitful, and multiply: bring forth
Abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.”
The Lord has instructed us what is to be eaten. Remember famine is usually produced by man.

The following are some causes of less productions in our world:

• War disrupts food production,
• Socialist control of production,
• Taxation, and
• Debasing money.
Jehovah told people through Moses what to eat. This has been ridiculed by the people who do not want to obey the health instructions. In fact, this is a form of rebellion against God.

What people fail to realize is that when evil comes upon us that there is a cause and effect that could first be seen. In Judges 13:1, this is set out for us to read.

“And the children of Israel did evil again in the
sight of the Lord; and the Lord delivered them into
the hand of the Philistines forty years.”

The Jews made conscious decisions not to follow God. The result was 40 years under the whip of the Philistines. This was an entire generation of people who did not know Jehovah God. The United States is no different and now we are faced by the evil muslims who seek our destruction. Our leaders will do little or nothing about this. Then the socialist have taken control.

As always there is a remedy found. The Lord started with a simple peasant woman. This chapter does not even tell us her name but it sets out her husband’s name as told to us in Judges 13:2-3.

“And there was a certain man of Zo’rah, of the
family of the Danites, whose name was Ma-no’ah:
and his wife was barren, and bare not.
And the angel of the Lord appeared unto the woman,
and said unto her, behold now, thou art barren, and
bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son.”
She was barren but this soon was to change.

The instructions were very simple. Her eating had certain instructions. The verse in short but powerful as set out in Judges 13:4-5.

Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not
wine not strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing:
For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son: and no
razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a
Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin
To deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.”

Unless one is familiar with Numbers 6:2,3, then this passage makes no sense.

“Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them,
when either man or woman shall separate themselves
to vow a vow of a Nazarite, to separate themselves
unto the Lord:
He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink,
and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of
strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of
grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried.”

It was in Leviticus II that eating habits are set forth. In the strongest words one should read this chapter because it is valid today also. Will people follow the instruction there in? Of course not! No way! We are smarter than God!

Eating clean follows certain prohibitions:

  • • No alcohol,
  • • No fermented foods,
  • • No animals that do not have scales and fins.
  • • NO catfish, lobster, oysters, and/or shrimp.
  • • No animals that do not have split hoof and chew the cud.
  • Generally limited to sheep, goats, and beef.

This tells us how to be clean. Once again read Leviticus 11 for your own benefit.
There were a special group of men and women who were called Nazarites who followed God’s law. Here is what we moderns can learn from this that even before conception the future mother should follow these commands for a healthy child birth. Further we should also adhere to out eating. Will this happen? No way. Man ignores God.

She told her husband what happened in Judges 13:6.

“Then the woman came and told her husband, saying,
a man of God came unto me, and his countenance
was like the countenance of an angel of God, very
terrible: but I asked him not whence he was, neither
told he me his name:”

In Judges 13:10, this heavenly being came again.

“And the woman made haste, and ran, and shewed
her husband, and said unto him, behold, the man
hath appeared unto me, that came unto me the
other day.”

Again the instruction was to be clean in eating. There was an attempt to feed this messenger from God. The earthly couple offered an animal sacrifice. The heavenly guest disappeared into the flames and immediately disappeared. This part of the story is found in Judges 13:20-21.

“For it came to pass, when the flame went up
toward heaven from off the altar, that the angel
of the Lord ascended in the flame of the altar.
And Manoah and his wife looked on it, and fell
on their faces to the ground.
But the angel of the Lord did no more appear
To Manoah and to his wife. Then Manoah knew
that he was an angel of the Lord.”

The passage in Judges 13, gives us several rules to accept:

First, except for some physical anomaly we should eat according to what the Holy Scripture states. It is to our personal benefit and health.

Second, we should become familiar with the word of God. The stories tell us how we are to live in our daily lives. Always read God’s word from that view point.

Third, we should observe around us so we can make intelligent decisions.

Fourth, we should understand that these laws are in effect now. Jesus came to fulfill the law not to destroy it.

Fifth, there is no reason not to stay healthy. God wants each one to live by his dietary rules.

The diet set forth has a significant meaning for each one of us to live. Actually, it is not difficult – nor is it restrictive in this society.

“More like the Master I would ever be,
More of His meekness, more humility;
More zeal to labor, more courage to be true,
More consecration for work He bids me do.

Take Thou my heart, I would be Thine alone;
Take Thou my heart and make it all Thine own.
Purge me from sin, O Lord, I now implore,
Wash me and keep me Thine forevermore.

More like the Master is my daily prayer;
More strength to carry crosses I must bear;
More earnest effort to bring His kingdom in,
More of His Spirit, the wanderer to win.

More like the Master I would live and grow;
More of His love to others I would show;
More self-denial, like His in Galilee,
More like the Master I long to ever be.”
