Saving A Tribe

“Now the men of Israel had sworn in Miz’peh, saying,
there shall not any of us give his daughter unto
Benjamin to wife.” Judges 21:1.

There are some people who should be saved. All across the United States we see evidence of this fact because there are many charitable groups whose entire existence is based on supporting, maintaining and lifting up those who are less fortunate then you and I. In fact, one large group seeks money for numerous organizations. You and I know this group as the United Way. This relationship fosters the concept we should give to this rather than one on one.

However, it should be made clear that most that are in the United Way will later on have another fund raising affair to get additional monies.

When these different groups do come together it is always about money. In fact, the leadership will try to put a guilt burden on every organization and person. The foundations and government-authorized groups will use a multitude of attempts to dig their fingers into your
Pockets. We never know what will come out of their collective minds to bolster their lives.

There was a reason why the tribe of Benjamin was preserved for several centuries. It was set out in Philippians 3:5, when Paul said where he originated.

“Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel,
of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews;
as touching the law, a Pharisee.”

In our history of this nation we have been bombarded by fake news and twisted facts. One such remark is call Abraham Lincoln as the Great Emancipator. To the day Lincoln said he thought it best that the blacks should be returned to Africa. If one read the Emancipation Proclamation, it was not to free all the black people.

Then, in the election of 2016 Hillary Clinton tried her best in my opinion to destroy the white race. This is an extreme statement – but she was a follower of that socialist muslim-leaning man who sits in the Oval Office. He is black. She was appointed by this Marxist thinker. One could seriously wonder what he is.

Her speeches indicated that she did not like Anglos- and, especially white males. Yes, I know she would have leaped upon the Anglos and especially the male species.

During the election of 2016, did you notice that the Evangelicals voted for Donald Trump? The vast majority of this group were mainly white people, and they went to Donald Trump. It was for 2 reasons. First, the dislike for people who labored. Second, the offer to support the blacks who are always correct.

She tore down the white race in an attempt to be sure the blacks came out to vote. It was a sordid attempt to raise one group of people to be superior above another.

No wonder Trump won the Electoral College count!

CAN MINDS CHANGE?

In this lesson we see when there is a change of mind. This is not unusual in history let me give you an example when a mind and words were changed by money. It happens often.

In 1938, Winston Churchill had a position that was entirely different then he was known for in 1939 and forward. He was 64 in 1938 and lived well beyond his means. He was on the verge of losing his Chartwell home because he had no financing. Suddenly he came into possession of 150,000 pounds.

A Jew, Henry Strakosch gave him a loan which saved his family home. Suddenly he was a critic of Adolph Hitler. Once for Neville Chamberlain, he then became a fanatic of Hitler haters. Money can and does change minds. It was predicted Churchill would, because of Britain losing its empire.

Here is another person that not only changed but converted others to do so. When the Watergate affair was in full schemea man by the name of Charles Colson was an advisor to Richard Nixon. As it turned out Charles Colson accepted Christ, then went to prison for a crime during this era. When he came out of prison he founded a ministry to spread the Gospel to convicts. He went from evil to righteousness.

The name of his organization is Christian Fellowship. The lives this Godly man touched and brought the message of salvation to the people in prison will never be known on this side of the spiritual Jordan River.

The election of 2016 proves that issues must be discussed. Hillary Clinton thought she had won even as corrupt as she was. The people of power, in the right places said,  “No you have not won.”  God has given the American people at least one more chance.

GOSPEL CALLS FOR CHANGE

What Jesus did was lay the ground rules for men to live by. He was a revolutionary. The people were in thrilled once they heard what He had to say. We know this man spoke as no other had ever done. Mark 11:28-29, speaks to this issue.

“And say unto him, by what authority doest thou
these things? And who gave thee this authority to
do these things.
And Jesus answered and said unto them, I will
also ask of you one question, and answer me,
and I will tell you by what authority I do these
things.”

At first it seems Jesus was a man who could do magic. That soon came to a stop when he was murdered, buried and rose from the dead. Now they know this was the Son of God who called for the change among all men.
The Day of Pentecost was a call for change also. When the first Gospel sermon was laid out by Peter he called for a dramatic change. This was a shock to those Jews who gathered that to celebrate this Jewish holiday. What Peter said when asked a question can be read in Acts 2:38-40.

“Then peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized
every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the
remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the
Holy Ghost.
For the promise is unto you, and to your children,
and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord
our God shall call.
And with many other words did he testify and exhort,
saying, save yourselves from this untoward generation.”

His basic thought was to act now. Do not wait. There were no therapy sessions. If there had been a time period of waiting the Church would never have gotten into a productive mental state.

Here is what Peter declared for these people to make change:

• Hear the good news about Christ. (this took maybe 30 minutes),
• Believe the good news. (this took about 2 seconds), Confess that Jesus is the Son of God. (this would take maybe 10 seconds),
• Repent of your sins (this would be no longer than 10 seconds),
• Immersed as soon as possible. (this might take an hour to find enough water).

This merely illustrates it all can happen quickly. Once an idea is referred to a session, a committee or a group, the concept is no more.

ONE CAN CHANGE

We are told in Judges 21:12, that there had been a desire to kill all of the tribe of Benjamin.

“And they found among the inhabitants of
Ja’besh-gil’e-ad four hundred young virgins, that
had known no man by lying with any male: and
they brought them unto the camp to Shi’loh, which
is in the land of Canaan.”

Then more solemn heads took over the thought process of the group. They were about to be annihilated one of the twelve (12) tribes. The men said we must not do this according to Judges 21:6-7.

“And the children of Israel repented them for
Benjamin their brother, and said, there is one
tribe cut off from Israel this day.
How shall we do for wives for them that remain,
seeing we have sworn by the Lord that we will
not give them of our daughters to wives?”
It was decided to capture a certain group of women from the tribe of Benjamin. Judges 21:12.

“And they found among the inhabitants of
Ja’besh-gil’e-ad four hundred young virgins, that
had known no man by lying with any male: and
they brought them unto the camp to Shi’loh, which
is in the land of Canaan.”

Those men who were at the Rock of Rimmon were told of the plan even though an oath had been made to kill all Benjamin’s men’s wives.  They were given to them instead. This is laid out in Judges 21:14.

“And Benjamin came again at that time; and they
gave them wives which they had saved alive of the
women of Ja’besh-gil’e-a: and yet so they sufficed
them not.”

There were some men who did not have wives so another plan was devised for these men of Benjamin. Judges 21:23, sets this out.

“And the children of Benjamin did so, and took
them wives, according to their number, of them
that danced, whom they caught: and they went
and returned unto their inheritance, and repaired
the cities, and dwelt in them.”

There had been a remarkable change in the mental attitude toward this tribe. People can change. There are few that do but it can happen.

HOW TO MAKE CHANGE

The last verse in the book of Judges is 21:24.

“And the children of Israel departed thence at that
time, every man to his tribe and to his family, and
they went out from thence every man to his inheritance.”

This is a sad verse because it tells that the mental state was my destiny is controlled by a man. He can the way he desires. When men decide what is right or wrong they are always wrong. We are never capable of setting up our own rules.

When we do this then the result will be one of the following:

• Communism,
• Socialism,
• Democracy,
• Dictatorship,
• Mob rule,
• One man control,
• Kingship, central planning,
• Religious structure, and
• Anarchy.

None of these have the best interests of men as the center care of that government.

We as a nation should be grateful that we have another chance to resolve our problems without the Clintons’ or Bushes’ being involved. Thank God for this.

CONCLUSION

Every person should weigh mentally every decision. This is the reason the decision must be examined carefully.

What does the Bible say about this problem?
• How do you fit into this situation?
• Will Christ benefit from my decision? And
• If so how?

No person should do any act simply to please themselves. Think of others, first.

KEEP THE FAITH!

I AM RESOLVED

“I am resolved no longer to linger,
charmed by the world’s delight;
things that are higher, things that are nobler,
these have allured my sight.

I will hasten to Him,
hasten so glad and free;
Jesus, greatest, highest,
I will come to Thee.

I am resolved to go to the Savior,
leaving my sin and strife;
He is the true one; He is the just one,
He has the words of life.

I am resolved, and who will go with me?
Come, friends, without delay;
taught by the Bible, led by the Spirit,
we’ll walk the heavenly way.”
