Shift in Procedure

“And Jesus answering said unto him,
Seest thou these great buildings?
There shall not be left one stone
upon another, that shall not be
thrown down.”
Mark 13:2
“Then said Jesus unto him,
except ye see signs and wonders,
ye will not believe.”

John 4:48
“And Phillip said, if thou believest
with all thine heart, thou mayest,
and he answered and said, I
believe that Jesus Christ is the
Son of God.”
Acts 8:37

From about 1800 until now a rapid change has been accelerating at a very fast pace in society. There is no area of human activity that has not gone about some form of transformation.

There has been a litany of movements that have abruptly brought about a different way of performing some form of change.

You can add to this list of alterations:

Yet we know the way the military operates from what it once was to what it is today.

Wars were fought hand to hand for centuries when one man sought to overcome another. Armies would come together then a clash of arms would happen.

It was Sparta that developed the solid wall of shields to keep away from personal contact. These soldiers were called hoplites..

Next was the Roman idea of a solid box that a centurion would command its movements. The trick was to fight on open ground thus the Roman formation moved forward. No retreats.

When gunpowder was used the box lost its ability to move rapidly. Then artillery was a force to be dealt with. This was the cannon which could decimate an army. The master of this way of fighting was inaugurated by Napoleon of France. It has been said that the American Civil War was the last Napoleonic war. It was from 1861 to 1863.

In order to counteract this method of war it was to dig into the earth for safety. WWI and WWII and Korean are examples of the digging into the soil.

Then in the late 1950’s another method of war begun. This was called the revolutionary progress. The war is advanced through the surrounding of civilians in the countryside and cities. Armies were made up of civilians.

Vietnam which the French and Americans fought, is an example America is now in the process of again fighting the new war in Afghanistan. The British and Russia had to learn the same lesson. Both were defeated.

There was a French army officer who wrote a book called Modern Warfare. His name was Roger Trinquier. He saw how to win this type of armed conflict. When in Algeria he was a commander fighting the resurrection.

Yes, I know there was an over lapping in some time periods of these methods. This was generally what happened as shown above.

A different change is now happening with the drones and high explosives attached then to these iron birds.

However, a change happens. There is still the attempt to kill and destroy the human ability to resist. An army cannot be used like it once was; there will be no confronting another army for a battle. That day has ended. The wars are for population and not county..

Since the end of WWII and Korea warfare has changed. The church must change its method of fighting Satan and his evil forces.

Our view of warfare against Satan must evolve into another tactic. The strategy is still the same. Take the world for Christ. Our methods should take another form.

There should be the emphasis upon telling people individually about Jesus Christ. We understand that in the beginning of the Christian era this was the way.

When a weakness is shown then pounce on it. This is what Peter did in Acts 2:37-38:

“Now when they heard this, they were pricked into their heart, and said
unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the
name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of
the Holy Ghost.”

Here is another example of how we are to respond to trouble. See Acts 8: 27-31:

“And he arose and went; and behold, a man of Ethiopia an eunuch of great
authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all
her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship.”
“Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.
“Then the spirit said unto Phillip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.”
“And Phillip rant thither to him read the prophet Esaias, and said,
Understandest thou what thou readest:”
“And he said, How can I except some man should guide me? And he desired
Phillip that he would come up and sit with him.”

Paul and Silas were jailed. At that time a strange event happened. An earthquake.
See Acts 16: 27-30, 33

“And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the
prison door open, he drew out his sward, and would have killed himself,
supposing that the prisoners had been fled.”
“But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are
all here”
“Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell
down before Paul and Silas.”
“And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
“And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes:
and was baptized, he and all his straightway.”

The point that must be taken is to teach people to act when a sinner shows bewilderment in his or her predicament.

This type of response can only be done if people are trained. Part of this comes from equipping people mentally.

People must be instructed what they must be looking for. This normally has been in the Sunday School. No more! Children and adults come and go to church as they want. Sunday School is now nothing.

The early church used the method of seeing the need and then explaining how Christ could help them. Also there was the added benefit told of the reward generally to those who kept the faith. This was eternity of their soul. The world offers nothing except misery.

It is possible for the gospel to be spread but the haphazard way we approach the problem is naïve. The church must voice the thoughts on economics and psychology of the people.

It seems one way to act is to have a church to choose a county to act and then evangelize it. The victory can then be obtained. Then we must exploit how to seize control of the people by spreading the gospel.

This is the method how the military plans a campaign. A business who is wanting a market share does the same. This is called a business plan.

Unless a person has a formula for life he or she will not be victorious. It is absurd to worry about the national movement. This is silly. It was Will Rogers who said something similar to this, “I’m not a comedian. I just report on the activities of Congress.” This is not exact. You get the point.

It is difficult to talk generally but we must focus on the particular is necessary.

In one aspect Christianity has a selfish core. What can it do for me? It can offer and give two areas – peace and eternity.

In the parable in Matthew, Jesus gave us a business plan for living. The writer states this in Matthew 13: 33-38.

“Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto
leaven, which a woman too, and hid in three measures of meal, till the
whole was leavened.”
All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without
A parable spake he not unto them:
“That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will
open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret
from the foundation of the world.”
Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples
Came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.
“He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good see is the Son of
“The field is the world; the good are the children of the kingdom; but the tares
are the children of the wicked one;”

What the Son of God offered was a new way of living. Do I think most people will do this. No! No! and No!.

The problem is that people do not want to change. It is not each is unable but that as a person the desire is not there. In any new war the generals want to fight it as they did the last war. This is a guarantee that means to fail. The strategy is the same but the tactics are not.

From the book of Romans to Hebrews Paul set out how the church is to act in a given situation. The books are very practical. The wording is simple and given in a way that all people can understand.

Keep in mind the methods do change but not the end result.

In the game of football an opposing coach will spend hours watching and studying the team they are about to play. In short he is studying the enemy. This does not come overnight but only through concentrated effort to determine his moves. So the simple rule is to know who you are going up against. However, he will be doing the same to you.

Our enemy is Satan. Look around and you will know him.

Study your adversary.

“Crowns and thrones may perish, Kingdoms rise and wane,
But the church of Jesus constant will remain;
Gates of hell can never ‘gainst the church prevail;
We have Christ’s own promise, And that cannot fail.”
