Sounds Of Trouble

“Set the trumpet to thy mouth, He shall
come as an eagle against the house of the
Lord, because they have transgressed my
covenant, and trespassed against my law.”    Hosea 8:1.

Man has used various instruments to tell that some peril is coming for all those who will listen. There are not always sounds that send the alarm. It is common knowledge that there has been different means of communication of an event.

The American Indian especially in the Southwest sent signals by puffs of smoke. Since the skies are generally clear smoke was used to send a message. In the jungles of Africa the beating of the hollow logs and drums put forth the alert to beware. In the Orient especially China the way people, tribes and armies indicated a plan of action was to wave flags in the air. It was true of the Orientals and also the British armies in times of war..

One favorite manner was to inform others was by the trumpet or horn blasting out some prearranged indication what was about to take place. If the reader has ever seen a combat scene of the American Civil War sounds by a bugle were heard.

In the depiction of trouble in Hosea 8:1 there a metaphor is used.

“Set the trumpet to thy mouth, He shall come as an eagle against the
house of the Lord because they have transgressed my covenant and trespassed
against my law.”

The prophet was telling the Jews that danger was coming.

What few people understand about God and the Hebrews was that a covenant existed. Moses wrote about this in Deuteronomy 28:9.

“The Lord shall establish thee and holy people unto himself, as he hath
sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy
God giveth thee.”

Both sides had responsibilities that had to be kept. There was a mutual understanding and each had to perform according to the agreement.

When the covenant was broken then destruction would come down just as an eagle swooping down on its prey. There was a fact that came about Israel breaking its responsibility to the Lord: it was obvious the law had been broken by these people.

When hardship came down on them then a cry went up that these people knew God. The argument was they knew who God was. Knowing someone does not guarantee that a cure would happen or this would be a friend.

Such actions are common among those who have sinned and know what they did. There is always an indication the facts are hopeless against the person who uses the defense that this is who I am.

Israel had been accused that they had sinned. The attempt was to side step the issue of sin. Here was their defense. Look who we know as explained in Hosea 8:2-3.

“Israel shall cry unto me. My God, we know thee.”
“Israel has cast off the thing that is good: the enemy shall pursue him.”

What made Israel great had been pushed aside. That what was godly was now a thing of the past. This was the reason for the enemy coming at them. It was their sin.

It was the sin these people had committed which brought them to their knees. What they had done to themselves was:

Set up wicked kings.
• Used princes who were not approved by God.
• Wealth – gold and silver were used to make idols.
• Wealth was ill-used.

You can read this in Hosea 8:4

“They have set up kings, but not by me: they have made princes and I knew it
not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be
cut off.”

What was obvious was their choices were against God and His way. The book of Hosea states leadership was a plague on them.

This is true for Christians today that foolish decisions bring about harsh results.

The trouble is that when we adapt poor leadership trouble is inevitable. It seems that democracies are generally lead by fools. For years it seemed we were a republic but now we are a democracy. An idiot guides us. The American people voted for a man who had no experience in leadership. Obama has muslim tendencies. It appears he hates Christians worldwide.

The sooner he vacates the White House the better for all of us. The man is evil to the core. The Hebrews would not enforce the law and neither will the present Attorney General.

The Hebrew people had a fascination toward worship of a calf. When these people left Egypt and Moses was on Mt. Sinai for 40 days then led by Aaron a calf was made to worship. See Exodus 32:4.

“And he received them a their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool,
after he had made it molten calf: and they said, These be thy Gods, O
Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.”

Now they are back at it again. There were worshipping a calf. Hosea 8:5 tells us this:

“Thy calf, O Samaria, hath cast thee off; mine anger is kindled against
them: how long will it be ere they attain to innocency?”

The end of all idols we humans worship will be destroyed. These will appear certain times when it seems God’s way is for naught. As always the creations of evil will be destroyed.

God’s law will triumph. Evil from Satan has no lasting power. All of the isms of our culture are going to be cast aside. Communism is a thing of the past. It was a failure. Socialism is on the way out: The Federal Reserve Systems is now 100 years old is an evil organization that will fall. The problem is that so many people are destroyed by these organizations.

One of the most intelligent statements in the Bible is found in Hosea 8:7.

“For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no
stalk; the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow
it up.”

What seems to be insignificant becomes a tsunami that will destroy people and nations. The coming storm of gigantic proportation that is coming is a result of these actions.

Materialism – see storage units
• Corruption by politicians – Hillary Clinton
• Love of vehicles – cars, trucks
• Depending on any government
• Refusing to evangelize
• Use of alcohol and dope

Colorado is the failure.

The Jews were told to remain true to God’s word. As a group it did not happen so when the conquerors came the people were enslaved and forced into another place. The Gentiles took them. Hosea 8:8 said why it had happened.

“Israel is swallowed up: now shall they be among the Gentiles as a
vessel wherein is no pleasure.”

The common remark is that this cannot happen we are such a great powerful smart people. Remarks like this only show ignorance of history as well as the ways of God.

Hosea 8:9 is a condemnation of depending on the strength of others. The alliances that Israel made with other nations proved to be a dispute. Israel was caught in the middle of a conflict between the forces of Egypt and Assyria and other sometimes nations of the east.

The United States should not keep meddling in the politics of evil nations. Keep away from the Saudis and other muslim nations. Let the crazies kill each other.

The only thing I owe them is to tell the Gospel of Christ:

The price will be paid. Hosea 8:10-11 is a special instruction to stay away from people who do not worship God.

“Yea, though they have hired among the nations, now will I gather them,
and they shall sorrow a little for the burden of the king of princes.”
“Because Ephraim had made many altars to sin, altars shall be unto him
to sin.”

The Jews were given the law. We Christians have the remarks of the New Testament to guide us in a special way. Now the Old Testament and the New Testament are ridiculed by the idiots of television as the people who are hired to talk and write for the different media. Hosea 8:12 so states this.

“I have written to him the great things of my law, but they were counted as a
strange thing.”

It takes about two generations to abandon what has been obtained by others, The call for continued purity in the church, the schools, and individuals goes on. However it is a lost cause to expect the church and the schools to reform. The only hope for a pure future is the individual.

What conservatives try to do is call for a change in politics and then expects it to change the schools and business. If you believe that you have made too many trips to dopers in Colorado.

Israel thought it could change. Hosea 8:14 says this was a mistake.

“For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and buildeth temples: and Judah hath
multiplied fenced cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall
devour the palaces thereof.”

The only hope for the future is to change the person.

Christ does not say the government must be altered or the school system needs to be revised. He always stated it was the person who brought about the change. No it was not the government.

The government always makes matters worse.

“True-hearted, whole-hearted, faithful and loyal,
King of our lives by Thy grace will be;
Under the standard exalted and royal
Strong in Thy strength we will battle for Thee.
True-hearted, whole-hearted, Savior all glorious!
Take Thy great power and reign there alone,
Over our wills and affections victorious,
Freely surrendered and wholly Thine own.”
