Strange Choice

“And Samson went down to Timnath, and saw a
woman in Timnath of the daughters off the
Philistines.”  Judges 14:1.

There were people who were problems for the Jews even before there was a group of people called Hebrews. Just as we know that the Arabs are a thorn in the skin of the descendants of Abraham  –  we know that even their ancestors disliked them. Jealousy was a serious problem for the chosen people as set out in Genesis 26:14.

“For he had possession of flocks, and possession
of herds, and great store of servants: and the
Philistines envied him.”

The son of Abraham, Isaac, was envied by the Philistines. These people were destructive toward the nomad Isaac.  According to Genesis 26:15, he was told to leave after the water wells had been filled up with rocks and dirt.

“For all the wells which his father’s servants had
digged in the days of Abraham his father, the
Philistines had stopped them, and filled them with

The same idea is told to the Jews of our time. The Arab’s (Philistine’s) told the Jews thousands of years ago. It could be shown that just as soon as Saul and David became kings, a war was continuous. The Philistines killed Saul. David did fight them in numerous battles, but the fact was –  he had to fight them to survive.

In our time there is no desire for these people to live at peace with the Jews. It is through religion (muslimism), that they continue to strike out. Actually, one could truthfully say that it might be in the Arab’s (Philistine’s) genes to despise God’s people: the Jews or Christians. One should only look at the historical background of the conflict.

The problems will never be solved except by the sword. Talk is useless. Committees of peace are a farce! The United Nations mandate is comical!

The situation by any standard of man is hopeless. The plight of destruction is a given since the Arab’s (Philistine’s) do not want a resolution of the vast difference between items. There is a pattern which could bring about peace.  We need to reach for the facts which Jesus Christ established. It will never happen during my lifetime.

There is a way to weaken the Arab’s (Philistine’s) power. It could be done like this:

• Send missionaries into their territories to convert person by person,
• Use the electronic devices which Americans are so well situated to use,
• Influence their children when they study in our universities, and
• Use secular people who will teach in their centers of learning.

This would take about 2 or 3 generations to accomplish – but it can be done. Churches among Protestants will not even do this. The Disciples of Christ, Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian and Church of Christ, and liberals are such weak groups. They strive to keep their salaries high, maintain church buildings and keep their seminars open. The respect for these groups is very low.

The Church’s Socialist Progressive Agenda is so utterly devoid of content – that any semblance of truth is by accident only.

The Philistines are being brought into America right now by that man Obama.  If Hillary Clinton wins there will be a cascade of ingrates because of her. The sovereignty of the United States will be gone. The November 8, 2016 election will be only  …  a moment in history.

God was very blunt about bringing foreign people into Israel. The approach that he used was for the Jews to destroy the heathen’s way of life. It commenced when the River Jordan was crossed and Joshua led the army against Jericho and then Ai. This sounds brutal but the cleansing had to start. Joshua 6:24, gives the way it was completed.

“And they burnt the city with fire, and all that was
therein: only the silver and the gold, and the vessels
of brass and of iron, they put into the treasury of the
house of the Lord.”

Before the battles for the promised land started certain rules were promulgated by Moses for the Israelites to follow so that the purity of the race would remain and a people could be established.

The Book of Deuteronomy was written about how to keep our way of life safe –  which is basic to a strong nation. In Deuteronomy 30:15 and 17-18, the word tells us what will happen.

“See, I have set before thee this day life and good,
and death and evil; “
“But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not
hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other
gods, and serve them;
I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely
perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon
the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to
possess it.”

The last fifteen chapters (especially), give us the instructions for a long-lasting nation. Were these commandments followed?  Nope.  Not for long.

Even Jesus never said there must be integration with a false culture actually his remarks were to obey the law he did. We should also. The argument then comes up with his association with the Samaritan woman, various military men and many non Jewish people. Christ never espoused marriage or adoption of their pagan ways. He preached a changed life for these non-Jews as well as the Hebrews.

Europe has absorbed thousands of muslims into certain countries. The leaders of these people had better become wise and understand this is a sign of a death wish. These foreign people will only bring about such a change in this civilization that it change every aspect of their way of life this includes social, economics and agriculture. The countries which are leading the absorption are Germany, France, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark and maybe Italy. The results are a huge distraction and unfortunately it will become worse.

The United States, through such people as the progressive muslim-leaning man in the White House; wants more infidels here. Hillary Clinton is seemingly even worse than our current Commander-in-chief. Remember a socialist never likes the U.S Constitution. These ungodly always want to destroy our marvelous document.

Samson’s life can be a help to each of us as we read; then reread the fourteenth chapter of Judges.

This man, and we do not know his age, was exploring his word when he saw a Philistine woman who was attractive to him. Judges 14:2 sets this out.

“And he came up, and told his father and his mother,
and said, I have seen a woman in Timnath of the
daughters of the Philistines: now therefore get her
for me to wife.”

The effort was made to reconsider his choice of a wife. Typical a young head strong young man would not bow to a remark of his parents. You can read the heated conversation in Judges 14:3.

“Then his father and his mother said unto him, is there
never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren,
or among all my people, that though goest to take a
wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said
unto his father, get her for me: for she pleaseth me well.”

The marriage happened. He took a wife outside of his own religion and beliefs. What could one expect but turmoil?

On one of his travels back and forth from his parents back to his infidel wife he killed a lion which later was a hive to a colony of bees. He ate the honey as did his parents. Judges 14:5, states the story.

“Then went Samson down, and his father and his
mother, to Timnath, and came to the vineyards of
Timnath: and, behold a young lion roared against

At the bachelor party, he proposed a riddle to thirty men.  If the riddle could be guessed on around of thirty governments and sheets would be given to the other. Seven days was to be the time limit. Judges 14:14, tells us of the event and riddle.

“And he said unto them, out of the eater came
forth meat, and out of the strong came forth
sweetness, and they could not in three days
expound the riddle.”

Samson refused to tell the answer until his wife plead, cried and nagged him to tell the answer He did, indeed tell her after a lot of pressure from his wife. Big mistake! The feminine force and duress was too much. He gave in. The riddle was no longer a secret and she told the thirty men. Judges 14:18, informs us of the happening.

“And the men of the city said unto him on the
seventh day before the sun went down, what
is sweeter than honey? And what is stronger
than a lion? And he said unto them, if ye had
not plowed with my heifer, ye had not found
out my riddle.”

These men, that were probably Philistines, were killed by Samson. As usual the heathen never follow the rules. As a lover of God, we should always seek to obey him.

A remark is found in the text that shows where Samson’s power was derived. You can read this remark in Judges 14:19.

“And the spirit of the Lord came upon him,
and he went down to Ash’ke-lon, and slew
thirty men of them, and took their spoil, and
gave change of garments unto them which
expounded the riddle. And his anger was
kindled, and he went up to his father’s house.”

When God sends His Spirit then great things can and will happen. This is one reason we should stay close to the Almighty. As soon as he killed the thirty men, he went to his parent’s home.

In Judges 14:20, his wife went to another man.

“But Samson’s wife was given to his companion,
whom he had used as his friend.”

When this chapter is read there may be confusion what this is telling us to learn as Christians. The instruction is plain and clear. It is not just a story that has no meaning for us today. It was obvious Samson was an impulsive man who at the time did not want to follow the dictates of not only God – but his own parents.

Never forget God gave us this unique story for our own edification. Use it!

The races do not mix well! Every time there is an attempt to combine and blend any group not of the same origin –  then trouble will erupt. The United States is going through this event right now with blacks and whites. In the history of the world this is factual and accurate.

This remark is never to be misinterpreted.  We should never mistreat other races or ethnic groups. In ancient Israel, the example for this, was the beautiful story of Ruth and the gleaning of the grain.

Scripture is to always be read from the concept as to what will this do for me in my walk with God. Here are some thoughts which can be for your benefit.

• First, listen to your elders as they tell you a principle to live by,
• Second, it is better to stay with your own kind,
• Third, marriage is serious and is not to be taken as a passing fad, and
• Fourth, in Scripture to seek and understand what God tells us.

Our Savior, Jesus Christ, used the Old Testament to instruct us.

“Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah.

[or Guide me, O Thou great Redeemer … ]

Pilgrim through this barren land.
I am weak, but Thou art mighty;
Hold me with Thy powerful hand.
Bread of Heaven, Bread of Heaven,
Feed me till I want no more;
Feed me till I want no more.

Open now the crystal fountain,
Whence the healing stream doth flow;
Let the fire and cloudy pillar
Lead me all my journey through.
Strong Deliverer, strong Deliverer,
Be Thou still my Strength and Shield;
Be Thou still my Strength and Shield.

Lord, I trust Thy mighty power,
Wondrous are Thy works of old;
Thou deliver’st Thine from thralldom,
Who for naught themselves had sold:
Thou didst conquer, Thou didst conquer,
Sin, and Satan and the grave,
Sin, and Satan and the grave.

When I tread the verge of Jordan,
Bid my anxious fears subside;
Death of deaths, and hell’s destruction,
Land me safe on Canaan’s side.
Songs of praises, songs of praises,
I will ever give to Thee;
I will ever give to Thee.

Musing on my habitation,
Musing on my heav’nly home,
Fills my soul with holy longings:
Come, my Jesus, quickly come;
Vanity is all I see;
Lord, I long to be with Thee!
Lord, I long to be with Thee!”
