Talk And Truth

“Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness
and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base
among you, but being absent am bold toward you:”  II Corinthians 10:1.

Paul faced the same problem that leaders always face when asserting any actions what people should be doing. Every four years the populations go into a bind of mental disability to know what the truth is. We all know it is coming.

For lack of a better description, it should be called the year of many lies.

There is another name for it because we say it is the presidential year, actually people take remarks like this with a questionable belief.

The points which we take seriously are the following:

  • Socialism must be fought.
  • The other side is made up of liars.
  • Your social security will be kept at the same level as of now.
  • My mind set is conservative.
  • Taxes will not be raised.
  • Follow the United States Constitution.
  • The (?) amendmet will be supported.
  • They will stop the borrowing of money.
  • Government must become smaller.

Thus all is talk since there is no intention to remember or change any of these remarks. No politician is ever successful in making a change in these items listed above. If you ever think these will be changed then you believe in the Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny, and Santa Clause.

We citizens should have the privilege to express our political ideas. The same thought should be allowed to tell others our Christian beliefs. There is another rule which must be our formula. It is only truth should prevail.

This church at Corinth was a troubled group of people. We have written several times what the numerous situations were. This is a belief of your writer that Paul had corresponded with these believers what was happening; but it is my belief that there may have been other epistles other than I and II Corinthians but there is no hard evidence this is true.

Paul wrote that he was asking them to have an understanding what was set out. The words “I plead” that these people would heed his remarks. On most occasions Christ was a soft spoken, perceptive and kind person. They should imitate the Savior. In effect be careful of a critical attitude. In short these people should not prejudge what Paul had written. They were not to place the wrong motive on him until he came personally. The text in II Corinthians 10:1 reads as follows.

“Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness
and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base
among you, but being absent am bold toward you.”

There was another side to Paul’s personality that could be observed especially face to face in opposition.

There is a remark made by cowboys that when a person talks to much but has no substance in their remarks. The remark is: “Big hat – but no cattle”.   We humans have a tendency to talk must but the words have no back up. This is a part of the way of life during the Presidential year. This cycle has no exception to the usual every four years. Words are endless among the candidates. The debates were a circus; with name calling and hurtling insults at each other.

It seems the preachers and religious writers have come to the conclusion they too must become part of the political comments. When there are comments on a proposed office holder then state what the other side should be doing also.

With the ability of digital recording – both in audio and video, the words can come back to literally haunt the speaker.

As a race we have not learned to keep our mouth shut. The basic rule is simple: think and then talk. It is not talk but, they repeat what was said. The biggest liar that has occupied the White House during my lifetime is that Marxist-leaning muslim that we have sitting in the Oval Office now. The respect for his honesty is nil.

Paul in II Corinthians 10:2, put in the face of the church that they should be careful with these words.

“But I beseech you, that I may not be hold when I
am present with that confidence, wherewith I think
to be bold against some, which think of us as if
walked according to the flesh.”

In many respects Paul could be brutal with his comments. However, what made him a foe with force was he knew the law and he was under a direct commission from Christ. Another attribute was fear was not a portion of his emotional make up. He had courage.

When plans are made for an engagement, the intelligent commander makes plans for the battle. One of the silliest events of the pre WWI was when Woodrow Wilson told Black Jack Perishing, the general, to go into Mexico to see if he could capture Pancho Villa. This group of soldiers prepared to enter Mexico from Sierra Blanca, Texas. Pancho Villa must have sat on the top of the mountains and laughed.

We Should Listen to the Authorities who know how to make battle plans.

The Apostle to the Gentiles had some words how action was to be taken. The weapons were to be understood and the battle plan could be developed. You can read about it in II Corinthians 10:3-6.

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh;
(for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty
through God to the pulling down of strong holds;
casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth
itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity
every thought to the obedience of Christ;
And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your
obedience is fulfilled.”

This requires the quality for you to see to observe and to plan each conflict. Whether you have thought about this it is to your benefit to read the above comments for your edification.

Those people who know this are actually in a superior position. Once a person can understand his or her predicament then a plan can be developed. In the modern church confusion reigns. Here aresome glaring situations that are not being addressed thus there are no answers:

• Fornication – thus rebellious children.
• No Bible in public schools – thus dope is an epidemic.
• No prosecution of Wall Street greed – thus cheating of the masses.
• No indictment of politicians – thus corruption reigns supreme.
• No open transparency – thus breaches are common.

There are weapons which God has ordained. These are at our disposal. We have not used them to destroy evil. The plan can be read in II Corinthians 10:7-11.

“Do ye look on things after the outward appearance?
If any man trust to himself that he is Christ’s, let him
of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ’s,
even so are we Christ’s.
For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority
which the lord hath given us for edification, and not for your
destruction, I should not be ashamed.
That I may not seem as if I would terrify you by letters.
For his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful;
but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible.
Let such one man think this. That, such as we are in word by
Letters when we are absent, such we will be also in deed
when we are present.”

Mankind needs someone to set out the plan to conquer evil. People must be told that we’ve been given the method of how to overcome evil.

Paul understood as a group people are stupid. A rational person can reason with an individual with logic. However, when there are many logic is cast aside and emotion of fear and greed are ruling not logic or common sense.

Paul saw the issue in II Corinthians 10:12.

“For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or
compare ourselves with some that commend themselves;
but they measuring themselves by themselves, and
comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.”

There is a plan for each person that God has made. He wants to give your life success. None of a weak existence. It is not our own credit that is sought but the glory of Almighty Jehovah. In II Corinthians 10:13-15, his remarks tell us this.

“But we will not boast of things without our measure,
but according to the measure of the rule which God
hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.,
For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure, as
though we reached not unto you: for we are come as
far as to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ:
not boasting of things without our measure, that is,
of other men’s labours; but having hope, when your
faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you
according to our rule abundantly.”

This man looked forward to the time when he would see his church and its members face to face. We should pattern our lives after Christ; as Paul did. We must always meet issues.

There was one central idea. Paul was always proclaiming and that was the Gospel must be spread. The church seemingly has lost its goal and commitment to preach Jesus Christ. Here is what Paul stated in II Corinthians 10:16-18.

“To preach the Gospel in the regions beyond you,
and not to boast in another man’s line of things
made ready to our hand.
But he that glorieth, let him glory in the lord.
For not he that commendeth himself is approved,
but whom the Lord commendeth.”

There was a reason why Paul was called the Apostle to the Gentiles. Look at his record. look at his travels. Look at his letters. Look at his traveling companions. The Gentiles were to be given the Gospel.  In the world, there is a culture change that has happened in the last ten years. Lies and nasty  language are accepted as permissible.

The Christian must overcome the language of lies and the use of filthy language.

“Sing them over again to me wonderful words of life.
Let me more of their beauty see wonderful words of life.
Words of life and beauty teach me thinking beauty.
Beautiful words, wonderful words; wonderful words of life.
Beautiful words, wonderful words; wonderful words of life.

Christ the blessed one gives to all wonderful words of life.
Send a list to the loving call wonderful words of life.
Oh so freely given; moving us to heaven.
Beautiful words, wonderful words; wonderful words of life.
Beautiful words, wonderful words; wonderful words of life.”
