We Have A Story To Tell

“Then opened he their understanding
that they might understand the scriptures,
and said unto them, thus it is written,
and thus it behoved Christ to suffer,
and to rise from the dead the third day:
and the repentance and remission of sins
should be preached in his name among
all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.”

Luke 24: 45-47

When a discussion is had about Christianity often it will be stated by the young teenagers or young adults that Christianity is not relevant to this time.  The others will state that this is the post Christian era.  From the understanding of these people that is correct.

However the answer is the individual Christians and the church have not told people why Christ is relevant to them.  If you do not know how to add and to subtract then mathematics is a foreign concept.  You can not teach what you do not know.  You cannot tell what you have not heard.  You cannot explain what you do not understand.

The modern Christians are ignorant and stupid.

When one seeks to find the culprit for the lack of knowledge and understanding one must go to the source of the misunderstanding.

It all starts with the youth who have not been told by their parents of morals.

  1. The parents want a silly environment for the children – athletics, dancing, etc;
  2. The parents are not home to give moral instruction.
  3. The public schools have no Bible surroundings.
  4. The church has no structured  program for youth, i.e.; Sunday school, midweek endeavors.
  5. The church ministers are bringing silly sermons.
  6. The wrong emphasis has been set out how to live.
  7. The reason we are here on this earth and what we are to accomplish while here.

These seven points are a way to look at the problem.  The fact is we have not told what to say to the lost.

As humans there are at least three ways we learn.  These are fundamentals in any learning pattern.  It is the combination of several together.

First:  it is observation  and/or

Second:  it may be by reading and/or

Third:  it may be by teaching.

It seems that  few people learn by observation.  These are the entrepreneurs.  Reading is difficult because a background must first be known.

Much of the fault for this being the post Christian age or that  Christianity is not relevant to this time is the theology schools and the public schools.

Without any hesitation I can state at no time have I ever known a graduate of any theology school whether it be Methodist, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Disciples or Romanist who in the last 50 years who had fire in their bellies for Christ.  I did not say there were none – only that I have known none.

Some ministers look as if they have such flawed characteristics that only a fool listens to them.

What is taught in these church schools is that the gospel is a social concept.  Love!  Joy!  Peace!  Food pantries! Rent payments!  Then I suppose comes some sort of a meal at certain times of the year. You know –  Christmas and Thanksgiving.

The public schools have taught that the government either Federal or State is God.  Here again the social gospel replaces the true gospel of the New Testament.  The Restoration Movement is not mentioned in the church.  The public school in some way has been a curse.

There is a battle being waged for the minds and souls for all men.

The church and Christians are losing not because of our poor intellect but because of no spirit to take the battle to Satan’s forces.  The conflict is the wisdom of the world versus the wisdom of God.

See I Corinthians 1:20-21:

“Where is the wise? Where is the scribe: Where is the disputer of this world?
Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God,
It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.”

Every age has it’s set of fools.  Paul believed in knowledge but he warned against the worldly way.  In Romans 1:21-25 this is what Paul wrote to the church of Romans.

“Because that when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither
were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish
hearts were darkened. Professing themselves in the wise, they became fools.
and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to
corruptible man and to birds, and four footed beasts, and creeping things.
Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their
own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves; who changed
the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than
the Creator, who is blessed forever, Amen.”

As a Christian, we must enter into the affray.  There is no place to be afraid:  Men and women will accept the teaching of the New Testament.  Hear again the Gospel must be told.

It is a common practice for young people to live together and call this a relationship.  All it really is is fornication.

Lying is a way of life with people in our culture.  Only the truth can stabilize a society.

What we must do in this culture is never back off from the Gospel since it is the truth.  One need only to watch the TV screen to hear lies of the lives.

We do not want to evangelize.  The task is not impossible.

Consider that twelve men in 33 A.D. started teaching.  Then we can see how the group goes because first Jerusalem, then Judah, then the region, then Asia Minor, then the empire.  Confront!  Confront and Confront!

A general rule the average Christian has not understood what happened to the church.  The theology schools were taken over by the envoys of Satan who captured the place where men and women were prepared to become minister and missionaries.  This happened to the Methodist, Presbyterians, Disciples, some Baptist and Romanist.

It was not only a spirit and battle but also it slopped over into the market place and a secular endeavor.  Socialism, Marxism and Progressism were the result of this satanic preaching.  The Democrats and Republicans embraced this way.  It was the church that gave its approval.  Except for a few groups evangelism shut down.

Most people do not care so long as they can eat like pigs, travel like scared rabbits and watch an athletic coliseum struggle.

The church and its members are weak vessels.  Do not expect results from most people.  It is the 80/20 Rule again.

In Ephesians 6: 10,11,13-18, Paul said this is how a Christian is to act under these circumstances:

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the
wiles of the devil. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye
may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand
therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate
of righteousness. And your feet shot with the preparation of the gospel of
peace. Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able quench
all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the
sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Praying always with all prayer
and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto will all perseverance
and supplication for all saints.”

Here are some hints on how to overcome being a church giver, church member and church miser.

  • Miss no church worship services
  • Have set time for prayer each day
  • Read the Bible through each year
  • Involve yourself with a small group of Christians.
  • Everyone you meet mention church.
  • Think I can help change the world.
  • Know one missionary outside of the United States.

These are simple rules but each person can commit to them.

I believe a day is not too distant that the remnant of God will come out of the darkness to the light and tell and show man that there is another way.

“We’ve a story to tell to the nations
that will turn their hearts to the right
It’s the story of truth, the story of mercy,
the story of peace and of light
peace and light.”
