We Must Fight On

“For we know that if our earthly house of this
tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building
of God, an house not made with hands, eternal
in the heavens.”   II Corinthians 5:1.

Even though the price in blood and in death is enormous; still  –  the struggle must move forward to a conclusion, even though those in control know what is happening. Often when it is over, few people will recall the tremendous sacrifice that was made. The three bloodiest battles fought by the American forces were; the Battle for Okinawa, the Battle for Luzon in the Philippines and the Battle of the Bulge in Europe, in the last of 1944 and the beginning of January, 1945.

It was in the dead of winter, and the German Army went on the offense. This hadn’t been done by any German Army for decades. This took the Americans and British by surprise. What Hitler saw was a weakness in the Allied war effort.  He was correct. The allies became cocky.

As usual, the Germans made the allies pay immensely in killed, wounded, and missing in action.

This fits into the Holy Scripture as to where Paul knew his final journey was going to be. There was only two choices. This unique man knew there was only one of two choices he could continue the struggle to bring the Gospel to the sinful sick and torn world.  If Paul died, he already had a place in the hereafter. This was written out in II Corinthians 5:1.

“For we know that if our earthly house of this
tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building
of God, an house not made with hands, eternal
in the heavens.”

This man of God already knew where his place in eternity would be. This was set out in II Corinthians 5:2-3.
“For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed
upon with our house which is from heaven. If we so that
being clothed we shall not be found naked.”

This man spoke with authority because it was not as a timid man would write using such terms as “maybe, if” or “I hope so.” This disciple understood the task to inflict upon Satan and his demons as much destruction as possible. Men and women were removed from the control of the Devil by Paul – this one man!

 Yes, this Jew had a simple calling – which was to tell others of Jesus Christ, the Messiah.

There are some who still have this zeal to destroy our enemy. What has happened in our day and time is that the church has become a social book club.  They study part of the Bible and thus have our Christian conscious to be doused with coffee, donuts and cookies at every service just before a 20 or 30 minute soothing talk is given by some poorly-trained religious leader.

Paul did not approach the Gospel in this way. His remark was the Good News will be told and it will prevail.

In World War II, there was a German Officer who was liked, respected and awarded medals.  He knew a high price would be required. On the Russian front, he was wounded by  Soviet shrapnel.  It hit him straight in the back of his head!  He took some aspirin and fought on. The man’s name is has been associated with being a hero. The name of this warrior was Otto Skorzeny. The stories about him are awesome. He was classicly-committed soldier.

The same can be written about Paul, the man who was given the task to spread the Gospel of Christ. This man knew his task was to tell others of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus from the tomb and the implications which were to follow. The boldness of his manner of living tells us that he knew his task. II Corinthians 5:4-6 set it out clearly.

“For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being
burdened: not for that we would unclothed, but clothed
upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life. Now
he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who
also hath given unto us earnest of the Spirit.”

There is a gift that has been given and we know it to be the spirit. This clothes us with boldness, intelligence and long term commitment. Remember this!

One must never forget that Christianity is local.

This means yes – we give to faraway places.  The requirement must be that you evangelize right where you are.  Forget that damnable Social Gospel, which is run by men and women who desire to take the wealth from the local church . If your church has not produced a minister, a missionary or a care-giver for the last year or eighteen months then ask to visit the elder leaders or minister and ask this question: “Why?”

In 1947 or 1948, there was a woman who had gone to England for some sort of event that dealt with Shakespeare. My memory is that it was at the replica where his plays were performed for the Royalty as well as the common folks. When this lady with a vision came back to Odessa she was determined to see a theater constructed which would duplicate the original.

She was an Odessa High School teacher with a strong desire that was founded upon her faith that it could be built. It took her time but that building is on campus of Odessa College. The “Globe Theater” building should be named the “Marjorie Morris Theater”. It was by her own faith that it was built.

Paul said he acted by faith –  never what he saw. In II Corinthians 5:7-9, he said he knew the events in this life were motivated by faith. There was no dependence by him, than what he saw now. Only a fool thinks that the physical projects of this earth are permanent. Such a thought is an illusion.

Today’s church buildings are an illusion that the physical is permanent. Money was put into these brick monstrosities and now they are vacant. Empty! Seated are the elderly. Then, they are made into restaurants, storage bins, or some commercial use.  It would have been better to train the ministers and/or missionaries. Now here is the proof by Paul from II Corinthians 5:7-9.

“(For we walk by faith, not by sight:) We are not confident,
I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Wherefore we labour, that, whether
present or absent, we may be accepted of him.”

Our beliefs can be felt if we are physically present. Encourage all who want to spread the Gospel.

There is one fact that is always looming in our future which annoys the citizens when we act. If each one of us operate as a group or society – then results will be felt. The Holy Scripture terms this judgment which can be for our benefit but also for destruction.

The rule is very simple when any situation arises there are payments to be made as a result of these. Payment is demanded from God because this is a maxim that cannot be denied. When men seek to evade the results of their action it is a time for disaster.

Here is what happens when the churches stop preaching the Gospel and deny the veracity of his Holy Word. Here are some results of a Godless society:

• 1900-2000: A Century of War;
• Election of a muslim-leaning president;
• No control of political border;
• Marriage was laughed at;
• Diseases formerly unknown;
• Acceptance of foreign religion;
• Public Schools are a disaster;
• You fill in the blank    …    ___(?)___

So how is this working out in putting aside God’s commandments? Paul wrote that in the future there will be judgment as set out in II Corinthians 5:10-12.

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ;
that everyone may receive the things done in his body,
according to that he hath done, whether it be good of bad.
Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men;
but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made
manifest in your consciences. For we commend not ourselves
again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf,
that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in
appearance, and not in heart.”

There is only the way of the Restoration Plea  –  to return to what the New Testament states where the Bible speaks for us.

All responses are to benefit the glory or our Maker and when Paul wrote he said it is a heart matter from the outside but always within so our tendency is to let others know that it was us that did this.

As a Christian that studies Holy Scripture we realize it was Christ who died for us personally; because without Him we would be lost in eternity since there would be no meaning in life. The Messiah took with him to Calvary the wrongs of people then and until the end of this earth. This is set out clearly in II Corinthians 5:13-15.

“For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether
we be sober, it is for your cause. For the love of Christ
constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died
for all, then were all dead: And that he died for all, that
they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves,
but unto him which died for them and rose again.”
Avoid like a plague any man, church, groups or religion that even hints Christ was a man and not divine.”

The Gospel of Christ states that in the spirit when Christ is followed we are a fresh creation. This was done only by Jesus Christ for our benefit. This was the plan from God.

The reason we do many things is to straighten our bodies out so as to become like new or as we once were. The doctor recommends pills s so there will be a change in our bodies. The same could be said of eating as well as breathing, fresh air and exercise to remove toxic substances. This is explained in II Corinthians 5:16-1.

“Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh:
yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. Therefore if any man be
in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away;
behold, a; things become new. And all things are of God, who
hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given
to us the ministry of reconciliation.”

What Jesus did was to purify the spirit within each of us. We are a new being. How can this be? It is when we hear, believe, confess Christ, repent of sin and then be immersed in water. The blight scaring of sin is over. We are clean.

Christ made claims about his divinity then Paul asserted again as well as the Apostles and the first church. The issue is how this could be done. It was correct for in II Corinthians 5:19-21, it is stated:

“To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto
himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath
committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we
ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you
by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we
might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

All people seek for a renewal in life this does not matter if you are a Christian or not. We want our bodies to be changed.

The reason the Christian is sure about Christ because we know that God was in Christ. This is our only hope. Surely you do not believe in the following being a reality:

• Las Vegas, Nevada;
• United States Government;
• Republican/Democrat party;
• Man made laws;
• Any economic systems; or
• A church denomination

An ambassador is a representative of a foreign government in another place.

As Christians we need to be Ambassadors! God is our Lord. This earth is not our home.

“I’ve reached the land of corn and wine,
And all it riches freely mine,
Now shines undimmed the blissful day,
But all my sins are cast away
Oh, Beulah Land, sweet Beulah Land
As on the highest mount I stand
I look away across the sea
Where mansions are prepared for me
And view the shining glory shore,
My Heavn, my home forever more!
The Savior comes and walks with me
And sweet communion here have we,
He gently leads me with His hand,
For this is Heavens table land.”
