When There Is A Question!

“As for Saul, he made havoc of the church,
entering into every house, and haling man and woman committed them to prison.”

“And brought them out, and said, Sirs,
what must I do to be saved?”

Acts 16:30

So many people only want to talk and never obtain an answer to a question when an issue arises. An intelligent person seeks to know and to act upon the solution if possible.

The scripture text gives two times that a person was confused about a statement. It was natural a solution could be sought.

The text comes from a history of the early church as found in the book of Acts of the Apostles. The query in each one made sense. The first was when Phillip the evangelist came across a man who was reading the book of Isaiah and could not understand it. It was Jesus who Isaiah wrote.

The second text inquiry was by a man who just witnessed a miracle in a jail. Paul then told the guard what he must do.

Many times in the Bible some one inquires how to meet a problem. The person may or may not reply. From my experience most people want information rather than advice. One intelligent person would desire to receive the information then apply it to his or her resolution.

How you and I answer a question gives more than a solution it is most important because the issue may be settled.

One need never play around with the answer. We should either give the answer or cast it aside at once or even ponder what is to be done.

Generally speaking the reply should be made at once. Do not hesitate. Do not wait.


The following are situations that demand an answer. These are not laid out in any précise order.

First, individually and nationwide the sexual revolution has happened. The pulpit has not voiced its opposition to this. Men and women live in adultery and are promiscuous without any regrets. There are some men who are sexual deviants by the number of women they have had sexual relations. There are women who parade around like whores. It is also in the church where this happens. See Revelation 22:15.

“For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers,
and idolaters, and whosover loveth and maketh a lie.”

One might read Colossians 3:5,6

“Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication,
uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetness, which is
“ For which things’ sake and wrath of God cometh on the children of

Second, eating has become a sin that all ready demands an answer. Some time be in a place where you can observe people walking by: for example grocery store, airline ticket counter, movie or convenience store to fill up their car with gas. You see fat people.

What you will see are men and women who are over weight. The price all ready has begun to be paid. We are close to having a diabetic crisis. Cancer has and is a plague.

When you go, if you do, to church watch for it. I have never heard a preacher stand up and condemn this sin. Here are some passages. The Old Testament so speaks in Deuteronomy 21:20

“And they shall say unto the elders of this city. This our son is stubborn and
rebellious, he will not obey our voce; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.”

The New Testament also condemns in Matthew 11:19

“The son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man
gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans, and sinners. But wisdom
is justified of her children.”

Third, in recent years the rise of homosexuality has been given the stamp of approval. The United States government is a prime example of approving of this wrong. The entertainment industry has openly endorsed this when it is called a civil rights are not the same as moral debauchery. Leviticus 18:22 gives instruction as to who sex may be allowed:

“Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.”

Moses condemned this in Deuteronomy 23:17

“There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor a sodomite of the
sons of Israel.”

Paul said this was wrong in I Corinthians 6:9

“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be
not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate,
nor abusers of themselves with mankind.”

People as a whole refuse to condemn these immoral people in our society.

Fourth, there are people who refuse to follow what the Holy Scripture states as to doctrine. The issue is what should I do about this issue. There are rules that I did not make but this does not deny the validity of the issue.

Jesus was very adamant about grasping the law of the Old Testament. He said in Matthew 5:17

“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets, I am not
come to destroy, but to fulfill.”

Paul wrote about this also in Romans 3:31

“Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we
establish the law.”

We must keep sound doctrine which is what was written in II Timothy 4:3,4

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine;
but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having
itchy ears.”
“And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned
into fables.”

Fifth, some problems we will close our minds, eyes and ears to a frank discussion. There is a group of people who have had an impact in the 20th century far out of proportion of their number. In many ways we have allowed them to control certain businesses much to our degradation.

Some of their loudest voices have promoted communism, socialism and progressive. The history is clear how they have acted.

Seldom does this cluster of people enter into production of society it is nearly always from the viewpoint of transactions such as Wall Street, banking and the law.

It is the Zionist or Jew factor. Shakespeare even wrote a play about these merchants. The Merchant of Venice.

This started with deception with the maneuver of Jacob. Genesis 30:41 tells part of the story.

“And it came to pass, whensoever the stronger cattle did conceive, that Jacob
laid the rods before the eyes of the cattle in the gutters, that they might conceive among the rods.”

That type of craftiness has gone on for thousands of years. The issue is what can be done.


What I have done is set out five modern day situations which should be dealt with. There are many others but these are obvious.

For the New Testament church to be relevant in this age we must discuss what is happening around us. There are many other situations but these are merely examples. Here are additional issues:

· Family structure
· Alcohol induced problems
· Lying
· Stealing
· Divorce
· Medicine intake
· Professional dependency
· State becoming God
· Love of money
· Loss of respect for law

Every person and institution has built in personal and corporate problems. Christians and the New Testament church have these also. It will probably be worsened in the days to come. The way the World Wide Web has been forced upon us is going to escalate the problems. People will be focusing more and more on evil in the world.

There is the reason the church of the New Testament must remain strong and committed to Bible truth. The remnant is going to be to the very end of the world. There will be a group who are believers.

This can only be if we understand who we are. If there is to be an impact for righteousness then it will only be accomplished by those of us who are believers.

Your problem and my problem is summed up in one word “sin”. The Holy Scripture gives the answer to this malady. It is Jesus Christ. He has purged our transgressions.

This blog offers a solution to all of the world’s problems. It is not human but a Divine instruction.

Jesus alone comes with the solution.

“There are many storms that come along my pilgrim way,
There are many things that would annoy, that would annoy;
Save and keep me from all harm, dear Lord I humbly pray,
Keep me from the things that would destroy, that would destroy.”
