Where Are They?

“Now after the death of Joshua it came to pass, that
the children of Israel asked the Lord, saying, Who shall
go up for us against the Canaanites first, to fight
against them?”  Judges 1:1.

Protestants as a group do not read, study or contemplate the Old Testament and, thus we are not informed how much what we believe originates from the events in the Old Testament. In order to be informed about the fundamentals of Christianity. There must at least a smattering of the Old Testament. This has been a serious problem for we who claim Christ is the Messiah.

Protestants only tell the Sunday School stories. They believe that is enough and any more won’t be of value. NOT TRUE!

It is for this reason that we will be discussing the book of Judges which basically tells the time period from the death of Joshua until the birth of Samuel. This was several hundred years between the two. In the meantime, there were different men and some women who rose up for a short period that acted as judges, mediators, and arbitration when trouble arose.

There is no major theme that flows through the book of Judges; other than it can clearly be seen that Israel was sliding into Paganism through the years when there was no strong leader to assert and command the people to obey the commandments of the law of God.

The very last verse of the book of Judges raises this point. It is found in Judges 21:25:

“In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did
that which was right in his own eyes.”

When men do not keep the commands of God then it is a given fact compromise, adjustment and finally rejection of the basic tenets will prevail.

Moses told these people what type of mindset these Jews had. He even went so far as to tell them what would happen. Moses knew who he was dealing with. In Deuteronomy 31:27-29:

“For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold,
While I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been
rebellious against the Lord; and how much more after
my death?

“Gather unto me all the elders of our tribes, and your
officers, that I may speak these words in their ears,
and call heaven in earth to record against them.
For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt
yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have
commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter
days; because ye will do evil in the sight of the Lord,
to provoke him to anger through the word of your hands.”

It happened this way to their Nation. It was only by the intervention of God through his prophets that Israel was saved.

Do not be discouraged  – as it has happened to us in the United States. The men who were the architects of this Republic had a dream of a new nation. It was never a democracy it was/is a Republic.

It was men like Washington, Franklin, Madison, Jefferson, Monroe and Jackson that kept our people on the right path. Starting with Lincoln this nation began to deteriorate. He started the income tax, conscription and a war of subjugation any person who thought he could want another way. Now the list has been extended to T. Roosevelt, Wilson, FDR. Clinton, both Bushes and the Marxist leaning muslim-practicing man who is in the Oval Office now.

The U.S. Constitution is not a living document but is a “Dead Document”.

The United States Constitution no longer is accepted for what it is, a document that means what it states. Unless a strong leader comes forth soon for us then this nation is done. The signs are written on the wall of our culture. Look for yourself:

• Wall street does what it wants.
• Department of justice gets convictions when and if a guilty plea is made.
• Refusal to indict Hillary Clinton for her email escapades.
• Open borders between US and Mexico.
• Clamping down on Christian beliefs.
• Bureaucratic laws.

When looking at our past history and what it is now the fact is we are doing what we want. The result will be one of two events. A tyrant could arise, or a Godly leader will come forth.

The book of Judges should be read to see what events are coming to us. It is thought that the book covers about 299 years. From what we know there were no Judges that came from the tribes of Rueben, Simeon, Gad or Asher. This meant the problem was already showing up. Some were not taking to heart the laws of Moses. The real situation was that they were not consistent in their plan for God and consistency was never present. One must be like training for a Gold medal in any event. We must be consistent in our preparation.

It was not only John the Immerser, who called for repentance but Jesus also. Luke 5:32 states this:

I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

Sin must be purged from our body, mind, and spirit. This applied to us in the same way so we are not soiled by sin. When there is a mixture of righteousness and evil. It is righteousness that is cast aside. These Hebrews knew Moses and Joshua both had said remove these evil people. It was for this reason the people wanted to know when it was time to remove the occupants. The answer was yes. Two tribes went to war. They were Simeon and Judah as told to us in Judges 1:1-3.

“Now after the death of Joshua it came to pass, that
the children of Israel asked the Lord, saying, who shall
go up for us against the Canaanites first, to fight
against them.
And the Lord said, Judah shall go up: behold, I have
delivered the land into his hand.
And Judah said into Simeon his brother, come up with
me into my lot, that we may fight against the
Canaanites; and I likewise will go with thee into thy lot.
So Simeon went with him.”

Another skirmish was fought when Judah took Jerusalem. The torch was put forth and Jerusalem was burned. There must have been a constant warfare kept growing. It was necessary from the record we have Judah was an active tribe in keeping God’s will.

In the first chapter of Judges there is mentioned several tribes who did not act when told to do so. Here is the list:

• Benjamin – Judges 1:21
• Zebulun – Judges 1:30
• Manasseh – Judges 1:27
• Ephralm – Judges 1:29
• Asher – Judges 1:31
• Naphtali – Judges 1:33

Later on we know that these were the tribes that sought to go their way. There was one exception for we know Benjamin tried to stay with Judah. Here it was being played out again when God’s way is not being kept then bad things happen often to good people. God’s commands are to be kept.

Actually, what men say again and again that they know better than God. When this happens disaster will strike. There is a parallel idea which we should consider in our daily life.

My congratulations – if you are among the select few who know and see the results of the leadership or better yet the lack of leadership.

What this nation, or any nation should have are men who act in a Godly manner.

Recently I was talking on the phone to a man who attends a liberal church. The numbers are sliding fast. Each year the membership sinks. He said to me I know of a church in Lubbock, Texas that has a young minister that had thousands on Easter. Why was that? He said that we are not growing.

My response was I can tell you –  but it may not be the answer you want. The conversation was dropped at once. The minister in his church does not think the Bible is true. There are myths in it. If you do not believe what you are hearing, then it touches lives of those who you speak and power to spread the Gospel is lost.

There was a politician who said that all politics is local. When we analyze this statement then it is easy to see that this is true. The same remark could easily be said about Christianity. It too, is local. This passage from Judges 1 confirms this fact:

When these tribes did not carry the burden of cleansing the land the coming results were easily predictable.

There are men who change the world. Such a man was Henry Ford. This man believed every person in the United States should have a car. Look what he brought about:

• Roads
• Bridges
• Cheap cars
• Jobs for millions
• Parts for cars
• Insurance
• Mobility
• Sight-seeing
• Garages
• Race tracks
• Movement of goods
• Helped the bootleggers.

The best results for the betterment of all – appear when God’s ways are completed. The average person needs to know this.

Since 1933 – until now, this nation has espoused socialism or as it should be called Marxism. People have liked it and wanted it. The principles of socialism are contrary to Bible teachings.

The masses only understand that it means they get FREE STUFF!

In reality, is a form of theft and conversion. The Bible economy was never taught in the public schools or at the university. Thus, like the tribes of Israel – we will now pay the price. The last straw was the elections of the socialist-accepting Marxist-leaning man who brings disrepute upon this nation. How is that playing out? Where anti Bible teachings are taught – then disaster arrives or is on the way.

Remember that Israel was overrun by infidels, who were Godless and brutal men.

“On Jordan’s stormy banks I stand,
And cast a wishful eye
To Canaan’s fair and happy land,
Where my possessions lie.

All over those wide extended plains,
Shines one eternal day;
There God the Son forever reigns,
And scatters night away.

I am bound (I am bound)
I am bound (I am bound)
I am bound for promised land,
I am bound (I am bound)
I am bound (I am bound)
I am bound for promised land.

No chilling winds nor poisonous breath
Can reach that healthful shore;
Sickness, sorrow, pain and death,
Are felt and feared no more.

When shall I reach that happy place,
And be forever blessed?
When shall I see my Fathers face,
And in His bosom rest?”
