Who Has Priority: State Or God?

“Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam
king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against
thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is
not able to bear all his words.”         Amos 7:10.

It is true men will argue about Christianity. It is true men will write about Christianity. It
true men will fight for Christianity. It is true men will die for Christianity. It is true men
will not live for Christianity.

Recently I read various comments made by Hussein Obama about Christians. The National Prayer Breakfast was attended by men of many faiths but the dominant remarks were made by the chief executive officer of the United States. He brought up several caustic remarks about Christians.

The thrust was the Christians had done acts of violence during the Crusades. Incidentally the Crusades were about 900 years ago. One of the reasons was to retake the Holy Lands from the infidels – the Muslims. Their god is not the God of the Old Testament or the New Testament. This was to excuse the brutal acts of the muslims.

The day before the muslim-leaning Obama attended the National Prayer Breakfast he had invited certain muslims to the White House. The press could not attend the White House meeting with the muslims.

To my knowledge there has never been a meeting for Protestants, Roman Catholics, or Jews. This yells out this man is a muslim.

In order for us to predict the future we must know the past – then the future is clear.

The snakes in the White House are trying to weave another propaganda story for the American public.

Always remember what Napoleon said that history was a series of lies which had been agreed upon.

There is no reason for this author to respect the muslim leaning chief executive officer whose residence is the White House.

Here are some of the reasons for contempt:

1. He is a liar.
2. He does not support the United States Constitution.
3. He ridicules Christianity.
4. He will not call Islam what it really is.
5. He fosters rebellion in foreign countries. .
6. He is a lawbreaker.
7. He encourages lawbreakers and
8. He is a racist.

The sooner he leaves his position the better off the nation will be.

Amos left the wilderness south of Bethlehem and went to the capital of Israel. This was the city of Bethel which was the center of government and religion.

This was the comment of Amos 7:10.

“Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying,
Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is
not able to bear all of his words.”

Two leaders were there. The king Jeroboam was becoming upset.. Then Amaziah the chief priest carried out his frustrations.

The religious approach was to tell the King this man is telling the King do not let him continue with this wild speaking. The land cannot afford for the truth to be told. When reality is set out then this always requires an about face.

In the church world when as explained is given now people shy away from it.

It seems the groups which are growing are the fundamentalists and Pentecostals. The social gospel has run its course. The government is not a god except in the mind of the communist, socialist and progressives.

When we do not speak out against evil then evil will finally destroy itself and us along with it. Israel was overcome by foreign invaders. Judah did last for another one hundred plus years.

When Amos spoke he even said what would happen to the leadership of Israel in Amos 7:11.

“For thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel
shall surely be led away captive out of their own land.”

We do not know how long Amos was in Israel but it appears that it was long enough to stir up the people. The leadership was disturbed.

The high priest in Bethel wanted Amos to leave because what was being upset. Go some other place and tell the truth. Amos 7:12 reads.

“Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go flee thee away into the land of
Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there.”

We Christians must learn to concentrate our power to destroy evil.

In World War II a battle was fought in the Huertger Forest. The Germans used a technique that Americans were not familiar. It was in the form of a naval battle and exercise called “crossing the T”.

This is how the formation works: Two naval lines go toward each other. One side faces its fire power on one enemy vessel. All fire power is directed toward one vessel. When that ship is destroyed the fire power is directed toward the next in line.

What the Germans did was to put all force against one small spot. This was powerful all tanks, artillery, and infantry were zeroed in on one spot. The line gave way.

This is what Amos did at Bethel. He said to the leadership you are corrupt. It was said openly.

Men love to consolidate power in specific places. Churches are no different to this.

It was the high priest that said this: Amos 7:13 says:

“But prophesy not again any more at Bethel: for it is the king’s chapel,
and it is the king’s court.”

Washington, D. C. is the center of power in the United States. New York City is the focal point of money in the United States. From reading articles and listening this is obvious. In the body of Christ this is true of many denominations. One example of this is the Disciples of Christ. In Texas, the center of command is Ft. Worth at T. C. U. Nationally Indianapolis, Indiana is the control center for the entire denomination. Although I am not familiar with other groups they probably are the same format.

Jesus never endorsed centralizing of power. He placed responsibility on each person. One can affirm this by reading Matthew 5, 6 and 7.

When Amos answered the remark from the man of power, the high priest, he was abrupt. Amos was saying he held no position except as a workingman. Read Amos 7:14:

“Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was
I a prophet’s son; but I was an herdsman, and a gatherer of sycamore

In short he was not impressed by the king or the high priest. In our day and time do not be overwhelmed by political figures or religious positions. All of these creatures put their shoes on just like I do. One foot at a time. Each will die and will be judged as an individual.

In a short remark Amos 7:16 the prophet said do not tell me what to do.

“Now therefore hear thou the word of the Lord: Thou sayest, Prophesy not
against Israel, and drop not thy word against the house of Isaac.”

When one realizes that the pensions, social security, loans called, salaries and other financial support is in the control of the evil ones then boldness can be yours. This is the major problem of our time. There is too much power vested in the centralized small groups. It is at this point that the free will of man is lost.

If you belong to a church group whose actions are controlled from a central place you had better think about it.

The final prediction of Amos in 7:17 was as follows:

“Therefore thus saith the Lord; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and
thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be
divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land: and Israel shall surely
go into captivity forth of his land.”

The lesson to be learned in this brief chapter is stay away from centralized control. It is and will become more and more corrupt. Loyalty to a earthly centralized power is a fraud. Christianity is based upon the person alone to accept Jesus Christ.

“When Jesus comes to reward His servants, Whether it be
noon or night, faithful to Him will He find us watching,
With our lamps all trimmed and bright?
Blessed are those whom the Lord finds watching, In His glory
they shall share; If he shall come at the dawn or midnight,
Will he find us watching there?”
