Why He Didn’t Come

“But I determined this with myself, that
I would not come again to you in heaviness.”    II Corinthians 2:1.

There were several peoples who were not wanted in the series of circumstances when the British had been in India for several hundred years. It was Mahatma Gandhi who spoke the famous remark why Indians wanted the British gone when he said “We are not mad we just want you to leave.”  These remarks were sensible brief-pointed and YES –  a summation; as the British were looked upon by these people of the subcontinent. Some people are despised by the individuals who have been conquered.

In the United States, there is resentment toward the Federal government; as it puts more and more manacles on us – especially in the realm of Christianity.

We are not the servants of the bureaucrats in Washington D.C.

“All is for the best.
Believe in what we’re told.
Blind men in the market,
Buying what we’ve sold.”

By Neil Recert Rush

This is not acceptable for we followers of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. When rulers will not give you an explanation why certain action comes about then: question, question, and question the real motive for that rule. It was Paul who gave a reason why he had not arrived in Corinth for a visit and inspections as told to us in II Corinthians 2:1.

But I determined this with myself, that
I would not come again to you in heaviness.”

Paul was sad, even though it was stated as heaviness. My friend it is difficult to difficult to always carry joy at all times. There was a man who taught at Ozark Bible College, in Joplin, Missouri that would reply by stating, “I’m happy and I came on my way to heaven.”   This was Professor Don DeWelt who would startle the people with this reply.

Paul knew that a person can and often does affect the emotions of a group of people. He knew what the power of one can do to others. In II Corinthians 2:2. Paul wanted to put a good heart in these so he said:

“For if I make you sorry, who is he then that maketh me glad,
but the same which is made sorry by me?”

The church today has difficulty in believing this because the mood of the minister, pastors, and priest directly influences how we see the world and what the task of the church is to be.

This is but one of many seldom used doctrines of the church.  The doctrine is that we followers are to live in a different way. The church does not accept the proposition that we are to be conquered with what Satan wants us to be. Joy should be an emotional part of the psychic.

Joy can be called a sense of delight-rapture or mental-rapture. It is different than being happy; which is a feeling that will last for a brief moment.

The many trials of the Hebrew writer of II Corinthians cannot be degraded, criticized or ridiculed by anyone that has read and analyzed travels of Paul from city to city in the Roman Empire. The second anguish which he felt was within his heart. It was not the physical but that which was heartfelt.

Here was a man expressing that which was within the mind and the spirit of this person who was the missionary to the Gentiles. The apostle told them he had a deep love for them such should not be startling to them or us in this time because when we create a possession there is a love bond between the creators for creation. In II Corinthians 2:4-5, there is a deep expression of his in these two verses. He created this church.

“For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto
you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that
ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto
you. But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but
in part: that I may not over charge you at all.”

In the modern churches of this day it has never been said in print, internet or vocal that a person has such constructed feelings which Paul wrote to the church at Corinth.  Tears were shed in the body of Christ.  The Gathering no longer can be seen which brings us to the observation that love is now not a characteristic of followers of the Son of God.

Have you seen anyone cry inside of a church building?

In the church prayer,  a doctrine of discipline is taught as a part of the structure of these people. There are specific instructions to be followed by those in the body which is not accepted because now we want everyone to be happy.  However, it is impossible for this to be defined or followed by the church. When a dispute arises in the body this is what Jesus commanded in Matthew 18:15-17.

“Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go
and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he
shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. But if he
will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more,
that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word
may be established. And if he shall neglect to hear them,
tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church,
let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.”

Here are other references in both the Old Testament and New Testament.  So as we read this passage in II Corinthian 2:6-8, to know the attitude we are to embrace.

“Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which
was inflicted of many. So that contrariwise ye ought
rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps
such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch
sorrow. Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm
your love toward him.”

Our churches are stripped in the ways, of scripture by this would. The line of demarcation has not been drawn between the church and legality of this world.

The manner we approach any situation is to use the Bible as our rule of practice.  What people do not accept is the final authorization all matters what the Bible instructs us. When asked by a wrong doer for forgiveness then mercy must be given. This does not mean punishment cannot be given. Judgment will be administered. People must be shown that they must not thwart justice. Paul said Satan would be seen visually.   Yes, he is alive – but the devils’ plan can be thwarted by using the plans set out in Holy Scriptures. Here again we learn the way God has provided is II Corinthians 2:9-11.

“For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof
of you, whether ye be obedient in all things. To whom ye
forgive anything, I forgive also: for if I forgave anything, to
whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ.”

The issues for self-preservation are not taught in the seminaries. Believers are never instructed how to overcome evil circumstances or evil people, these following are not able to communicate answers. These people are who is at fault:

Preachers, priest, and pastors
• Teachers in churches
• Writers explaining his word
• Seminary professors
• Long time church members remember the 21st Century has never talked about new problems only old situations in a presentation.

In Acts 16:8-10 the stay is told why Paul went to what today we call Europe. He had other plans but God devoted him to Macedonia. It was then the good news taken to Europe. The gospel was moving to the westward. Read Acts 16: 8-10.

“And they passing by Mys’i-a came down to Troas. And a vision
Appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia,
And prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help
us. And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavored
to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had
called us for to preach the gospel unto them.”
Paul touches on the stay in II Corinthians 2:12-13.

“Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ’s gospel,
and a door was opened unto me of the Lord, I had no rest in my
spirit, because I found not Titus my brother: but taking my leave
of them, I went from thence into Macedonia.”

God had a plan that was to be followed. In our time, few people in the United States are willing to grasp the ideas presented in the New Testament.

There are people who have trusted the contents set out in the New Testament. It has been accomplished by those who believe in the Social Gospel that is spewed by television, internet and radio, however, not as much by the radio, as from the television and internet. Those who promote the Social Gospel come from such places as the following:

• Public Schools
• Foundation that were created by the capitalist who are dead
• Liberal preachers, priests, and pastors
• Politicians- Democrats and Republicans
• Unions
• Journalists

In listening to these organizations as they speak out – it is obvious that they hate the free enterprise system.

The word of God should never be corrupted. There is economic power as a Christian; and we have a special place in the sight of God. The final verses of II Corinthians 2:15-17 state this and it should give us joy in our lives.

“For we are unto God a sweet savior of Christ, in them that are saved,
And in them that perish: To the one we are the savor of death unto
death; and to the other the savor of life unto life. And who is sufficient
for these things? For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God,
in the sight of God speak we in Christ.”

We are part of a group who seeks to restore the early church in its mission of teaching and proclamation of Christ.  As Christians we need to be very careful in our actions, words and thoughts. Our adversary is formidable.

We cannot win in our life if we do not stand for the Word of God.

Keep The Faith!

“We have heard a joyful sound, Jesus saves, Jesus saves;
Spread the tidings all around, Jesus saves, Jesus saves;
Bear the news to every land, Climb the steeps, and cross the waves,
Onward tis our Lord’s command, Jesus saves, Jesus saves.

Give the winds a mighty voice, Jesus saves Jesus;
Let the nations now rejoice, Jesus saves, Jesus saves
Shout salvation, full and free, Highest hills and deepest caves,
This our song of victory, Jesus saves, Jesus saves. Amen.”
