Why Not Peace?

“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts,
To the which also ye are called in one body;
And be ye thankful.”  Colossians 3:15.

My father was a minister in the Christian Church. He held to the belief the Bible was inspired by the Holy Spirit. When it was originally written, it was without any mistakes from the first author to the last author. In his sermons he would often give an illustration about the joy of inner peace that people would be able to understand.

One example that comes back to my mind is how the word “Peace”, could be described. Peace was best described by telling of a bird building her nest for the young right next to Niagara Falls, New York. The female mother raised her young right near the roar of the thunder and the mist of the powerful Waterfalls.

The point was easily understood, because in the center of the sound and flurry – there was tranquility. All of the turbulence did not upset the life of the bird caring for her young.

In the world that we live there cannot be mutual concord. There is one exception and that is when the hand of God gives us our life. Then there will harmony in our life and the association with others; even though the worldings will never understand how that can happen.

We Christians are also puzzled by the sons and daughters of Satan. Never forget that those outside the body of Christ want LIFE to be in constant chaos.

When we examine the activities of humans there are many methods which are an attempt to have peace. The list which is below is an exercise in a desire to obtain peace. These are words which are used in the English language to mean the same as peace – which they do not. To wit:

  • Happy,
  • Pleasant,
  • Nice,
  • Quiet and,
  • Silence.

Be careful how these words are spoken or written since they are not synonymous with peace.

From a personal point of view, some people seek peace – so they submit to eating like a fat pig. When you see a fat person there is trouble within. In order to overcome the problem food becomes a method to calm themselves. The next time you are in a grocery store look at the obese men and women. Food does not produce peace.

It is not easy to lump two purchases together to observe the mental state. But, it is in the buying of a new car and a house that signals we are moving up in our status in life. As to a car – what difference does it make if the car is manufactured in 2009 or in 2018? Here are some other areas in which we seek peace:

  • Air conditioning and heating,
  • Radio,
  • Comfortable seats,
  • Brakes and
  • Smooth running motor.

When wealth comes quickly there is an immediate reaction especially from the wife or girlfriend. It is to build or buy a colossal house with gaudy furniture. This is an indication of a mental twist which means nothing. Basically, the new rich say, “Look at me”.

In the Eastern and Northeastern sections of Odessa, Texas, there is a lot of new housing contruction because of the boom in the oil and gas industry. When you see this you – question the sanity of some of these people. Does a building bring peace? Some of these homes have hundreds of thousands of foot of floor space.

Most nations that have neighbors on their border, want peace, or at least SAY that they want peace. In this day of massive fire power, huge armies and patrolling navies, can anyone actually expect to surround themselves with neighbors that allow peace?

The United States demands peace from the allies which it supports. During the Cold War, the United States gave vast amounts of materials, garments and training to any people who cried out – whether they were Communist or not. This generally brought peace to that nation.

It was a known fact the American politicians bought Central America, South America, Africa, and South East Asia. Western Europe had peace because of the North Atlantic umbrella that our Navy and Army had over them.

Russia knew if they moved West there would be a war – which would have killed great numbers of people. Thus, peace came and was held at bay. One could have called them “Pox America”. Rome had the same, but it was termed, “Pox Romana”.

Today, we have experienced a long era of peace. There are certain groups which will not allow peace for any extended period of time. Dictators will not allow peace for any long period of time.

The Socialist’s and the Communist’s refuse to allow tranquility. The reason is their hatred for all attempts to legitimize a calmness. Look at our surroundings. Who wants to confront the status quo?

The universities teach rebellion. They’re able to accomplish that by spreading Socialistic ideas. This generally means those rabble rousers will have hot spots where wars will break out. Do you recall Bill Clinton going into the Balkans? George H.W. Bush could hardly wait to invade Iraq. Obama was the tailgater and he encouraged the young men to give their lives for peace.

What a waste of precious life!

George Bush invaded Iraq and 4,000 men lost their lives for no good reason. They needed to lie about the Iraq War in order to orchestrate that one. Most of the time peace comes at the point of a gun. Obama wanted to destroy our Constitutional Republic. Look around to what that man did to our nation. We STILL have that mess of health insurance to deal with.

We believe that Trump is doing everything that he can in order to avoid WAR.

The purpose of this blog is to help us find peace in our life. There is but one place to look for this and that’s in the salvation of the word of God – the BIBLE. As we have discussed in detail the world does not want any person to know how to obtain this elusive mental and spiritual quality. The Holy Scripture does tell us the answers.

The Children of Jacob lived in Egypt for years and tried their mightiest to put God in their lives. Then a strange series of events came about from this man named Moses. He began to be used by Jehovah to promote goodness. The book of Exodus gives to us a series of events we call the Ten Plagues. Jehovah showed us His strength and His control of nature that no one else could perform.

It took forty (40) years of moving from place to place in the wilderness for these nomads to realize that the Almighty could and would handle every situation which could arise. He protected His own. This proved once again that He was controlling every situation.

There was no reason to despair. God ruled. They were not to depend upon outside forces.

After a time in the Promised Land these former slaves and bondmen did according to Judas 24, 25.

“Now unto him that is able to keep you from
falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of
his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God
our savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both
now and ever. Amen.”

When this happend – Peace was not to be! The book of I Samuel, II Samuel, I Kings, II Kings, I Chronicles, and II Chronicles give a history of war and very little peace.

Without God – there cannot be peace in individuals and nations.

However, there were men and women who said peace is a possibility. One of those was a man who gave us a message of peace. His name was David. He was the Psalmist of Israel. The word trust appears numerous times in the songs of Israel. Here is one such reference in Psalm 25:2. David used the word, “Trust”, many times in his songs.

“O my God, I trust thee: let me not be
ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.”

Then in Psalm 52:8, is another time it is used.

“But I am like a green olive tree in the
house of God: I trust in the mercy of God
forever and ever.”

There arose other men who used the word trust such as in Isaiah 26:4.

“Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the
Lord JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.”

Then the crying prophet Jeremiah 39:18, said it again.

“For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shall be
for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy
trust in me, saith the Lord.”

From what can be read there was and is, a pattern that comes about to have peace in our lives. It is so obvious that before peace comes one element is to trust the Lord. An announcement was made when Christ was born and sung by the heavenly beings in Luke 2:14.

“Glory to God in the highest and on earth
peace, good will toward men.”

When Christ began teaching the Son of Men said in Luke 12:51.

“Suppose Ye that I come to give peace in earth?
I tell you, Nay; But rather division.”

Yes, people wanted peace, but they did not follow the ways of God, so peace would not come. John 16:33, states that Jesus gave these men peace.

“These things I have spoken into you, that in
Me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall
Have tribulation: but be of good cheer;
I have overcome the world.”

Paul is writing in Ephesians 2:14, tells us the Gospel can bring peace.

“For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us.”

There are many references about peace in Holy Scripture. The Book of Revelation 6:4, says peace is not to be. This applied to all of the nations.

“And there went out another horse that was red;
And power was given to him that sat thereon
To take peace from the earth,
And that they should kill one another;
And there was given unto him a great sword.”

That idea is gone! No peace. So long as the Communistic and Socialistic party hacks are in our society, there cannot be any semblance of peace. It is impossible for anything such as peace, concord and tranquility to exist as long as men follow their own way. Never depend upon any church of the denomination to bring peace. They cannot.

The only vehicle for peace is for the person, the individual, and the single human to follow God’s Plan. Strength in God’s Word is our only remedy.

1. Know the Bible.
2. Read about peace in the Bible.
3. Trust God.
4. Live the Way of the New Testament.

God Bless Our Republic.

“Savior, like a shepherd lead us,
Much we need Thy tender care;
In Thy pleasant pastures feed us,
For our use Thy folds prepare.

Blessed Jesus, Blessed Jesus!
Thou hast bought us, Thine we are.
Blessed Jesus, Blessed Jesus!
Thou hast bought us, Thine we are.

We are Thine, Thou dost befriend us,
Be the Guardian of our way;
Keep Thy flock, from sin defend us,
Seek us when we go astray.

Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!
Hear, O hear us when we pray.
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!
Hear, O hear us when we pray.

Thou hast promised to receive us,
Poor and sinful though we be;
Thou hast mercy to relieve us,
Grace to cleanse and pow’r to free.

Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!
We will early turn to Thee.
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!
We will early turn to Thee.

Early let us seek Thy favor,
Early let us do Thy will;
Blessed Lord and only Savior,
With Thy love our bosoms fill.

Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!
Thou hast loved us, love us still.
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!
Thou hast loved us, love us still.”
