Stupid Is – As Stupid Does

“His watchmen are blind,
They are all ignorant,
They are all dumb dogs; they cannot bark.
Sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.”
Isaiah 56:10.

A five days ago it was necessary for me to go to a local grocery store for one item. The express line had one person checking out with two items. The bill for the lady ahead me was less than ten dollars. The shopper pulled out her credit card and paid the bill.

When the shopper left, I asked the clerk whether most people paid the bill with a credit card. Her answer was most do. My reply was that is stupid since the tax and interest will be paid to the credit card corporation.

The buyer was now to be charged twice. Once for the two items.  Once for the items on the interest again. The cashier agreed with me.

The saying makes sense. “Stupid is as stupid does.” This is just one example what is taking place in America.

One of the most idiotic acts is car buying. The salesperson can size you up very quickly. He watches the body language. The approach always is to push for the next high level. The more trinkets the model has – the more talk and embellishment the salesman uses – the more likely the sale.

It seems that people want to be sold to, rather than make an intelligent purchase. The glamour of a new vehicle is important.

“Stupid is as stupid does.” Another area is in household goods and “the law” declares that there must be a woman in the household. Most of the time one or two pictures must be printed. The female’s legs must be illustrated. The next picture we are shown are from her breast. This attracts women who want that models shape from the legs up to her breast. Would anyone purchase a car because of a female’s body?

“Stupid is as stupid does.” Recently it was necessary for me to go to the Appraisal District in the county where I live. The reasons were to see how the valuation had been set for an apartment. The clerk told me a year ago the appraisal district allowed 65% for expenses of the gross.  This last year it was dropped to 40%. What this did was to raise the valuation, so that the taxes would be increased.

Seriously, it is doubtful that unless the taxing entities have a change of heart, it will continue from now on. Then, all taxes will increase each year. It was the state of Texas that demanded the change from 65% to 40%.

You should never forget this little remark about how all governments are broke. Each year the different governments must have more tax dollars. Before the tax year is completed these government must go to a bank or lending house for more money.

“Stupid is as stupid does.” It happens every year that the ignorant talking heads on television will state the U.S. government will halt unless Congress approves the spending bill for the Federal government or it will be shut down.

What this truly shows is the total lack of planning by the Federal government.

“Stupid is as stupid does”. The rules that banking imposes upon people is constantly changing. However, the rule is always the same, When a change happens you must never forget that it was just another way of gouging more people out of their funds.

It generally is a method of dishonesty. God’s Holy Word since the Stone Age have been, “Do not steal”. Honesty has been the cry of the law of the Almighty. Exodus 1:11, tells how Pharaoh was stealing from the Jews by forced labor.

“Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.”

When nations steal from othr nations this is theft. Amos 1:6, wrote about it.

“Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom.”

The early Jews had a rule against every interest to follow Jews as told in Psalm 15:5.

“He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.”

Malachi 3:8-10, tells what people were doing.

“Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”

“Stupid is as stupid does.” One night there was a policeman who knocked on my door at 8:30 p.m. There had been some trouble at a place which was of interest to me. We talked about the problem and he told me he had been here in Odessa, Texas for five years. He thought it was getting worse each year. This remark was unsolicited. Odessa, Texas is merely a dot on the map, but it is worse in my opinion also.

Many of the politicians are out of control. Let me give you an example. In the Congress of the United States, a poor man can arrive but after a few years there, and he often becomes a millionaire.

The taxation upon the average “Joe and his wife” is more and more. Letter writing, telephone calls and attending a social gathering is worthless. The last thing that your author wants is violence, but it seems it may be coming. We Americans will finally say Enough! Enough! There are so many guns in our Republic.

There is a famous book which is true as far as the content. The name is “Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds” by Charles Mackey. The first printing was in 1932.There is a popular idea in that many think in herds. In fact, some have this is the rule rather though. Seldom do men recover as a group. Often when one person discusses an issue with another then an argument can be developed.

We all have seen birds or insects fly as a group. In a short time, all will move one way then quickly all change directions as a group. This is the way great mass movements respond. All will move together.

This is deeply troubling to one person as each watches the actions of the fellow humans as they move in unison. The primary example gives in the back is called the Tulip Mania. The tulip was brought to Europe by Conrad Gesna who thought it would be a view of flaws. The bulbs soon become a rage for the rich to buy. The cost of the bulb was beyond any sense of reality. One bulb could be a fortune in cost. The crowds of the rich seeking to buy a bulb was beyond any sense. Government lost control of the prices.

The old and fundamental love was still in effect. “Stupid is as stupid does. “In this book there was listed about 86 manias of the crowd.

In the world today there are men who spend their time is seeking to move the masses of people. Let me tell you that all economic movements are motivated by crowd psychology. Listed below are some areas where we think in terms of mass mania:

  • Democratic Party,
  • Republican Party,
  • Women wearing torn jeans,
  • Certain cars,
  • Keeping lawns green,
  • Certain churches for a set group,
  • Wearing neckties,
  • Going on a cruise,
  • Taking a vacation for two weeks,
  • Going to college,
  • Accepting socialism,
  • Guys should play football,
  • Girls should wear fancy clothes.

My readers must keep in mind “Stupid is as stupid does. “There is no justification for people to act stupid. When a person breaks the norm, trouble comes. We have taken the attitude if a person who is an individual that thinks outside the box and is not a member of the crowd is never to be trusted. It does not matter how sensible and reasonable he or she are – they must never be tolerated. You and I must always conform to the masses.

It was Napoleon who coined the phrase, “In war, the moral is to the physical as 3 to 1.” He understood that soldiers must think the same thing.

“Stupid is as stupid does. “In America, the Christian church has gone to sleep. The sense of evangelism has been put in the back burner. It has been decided that it must keep in tune with all of the silliness of the modern age as we sing. The words have no meaning. The instruments are loud and without harmony.

The power the modern culture has on the Church of the Son of God is demonic. The only members left are those with grey hair or who need to use wheelchairs or use a cane.

Then judgement is not a subject spoken from the pulpit. It upsets the ignorant and stupid members who only attend when some reason arises that their conscience were to hear. Now we do not hear a pastor, priest, or preacher raise their voice calling for repentance, confession or changing their lifestyle.

The Roman Catholics have had a blight on them as to child abuse. The Protestants are no different. Little children have been sexually abused. It is a part of our culture. If Epstein did what is alleged and he died – then his death was good riddance to this evil creature.

The people involved in the church want bricks, mortar, and wood in their buildings so that each edifice stands out as a beautiful structure. What this does for the cause of Christ is puzzling. Not one piece of stone has converted anyone to the cause of Christ. “Stupid is as stupid does.

“Christ and the early writers of the New Testament told us very plainly what to do. Paul wrote these words in Romans 12:2-3, for our edification.

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”

In II Corinthians 11:16, we are to act in a proper way.

“I say again, Let no man think me a fool; if otherwise, yet as a fool receive me, that I may boast myself a little.”

Jesus was attending to use the word “you’ often. He did not speak in terms of the verses Matthew 5:44, is one illustration what he referred to when “you” is used.

“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.”

The sermon on the mount was spoken to a large crowd but it was intended to be personal. The singular was used again and again. Here is another example when Christ said” you” Matthew 7:1-2.

“Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.”

Many of the parables were written in the singular – as compared to the plural or masses.

“He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.”

The Christian is told to act as an individual and not as one of the masses. So, the rule remains the same – do not do the following: “Stupid is as stupid does.”

CONCLUSION

  1. Do not follow the masses!
  2. Act alone.
  3. Masses are always wrong.
  4. It is the person that counts.

I  SURRENDER ALL

“All to Jesus I surrender,
All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live.

Refrain:
I surrender all, I surrender all;
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.

All to Jesus I surrender,
Make me, Savior, wholly Thine;
Let me feel Thy Holy Spirit,
Truly know that Thou art mine.

[Refrain]

 All to Jesus I surrender,
Lord, I give myself to Thee;
Fill me with Thy love and power,
Let Thy blessing fall on me.”

 [Refrain]

 God Bless our Democratic Republic.

KEEP THE FAITH!
